This is an anime that I actually picked up from an AMV๐. Hitori no Shita or The Outcasts is an action fantasy anime produced by Tencent.
Plot
Chou Soran leads an ordinary college student life according to his grandpa wishes, until he visits his grandpa's grave to be assaulted by Outcasts. Now being chased and pursued for a hidden style he knows nothing about, he learns more about his grandfather and his lineage and about the strange girl tasked in keeping him safe.
The Outcast is actually a Chinese anime co-produced with a Japanese studio.
As you can see from the AMV above the anime is of the action genre. It also has a lot of comedy though, which is what made me to fall in love with it๐.
This anime has 3 seasons currently. At each season the action and comedic factors were truly beautiful in contrast to the bad animation. They are planning a 4th season and I truly hope it'll have better animations for us. You can watch the trailer here .
The main character Chou Soran is an Outcast who under his grandfather's instructions never used his powers in his day to day activities unless threatened by another Outcast. One day he went to visit his grandpa's grave and was attacked by zombies. He was later saved by Fuu Hohou and that's how his journey in the outcast world began.
What I liked
- The Character Development
I think the character that developed the most is our own MC Chou Soran. In season 1 we were introduced to a scared and rather useless MC, even though he did have outcast powers, he was still inexperienced and easily beaten.
In Season 2 though, everything changed, our before useless MC stood in an arena with countless skilled fighters and won, even though it was by underhanded means๐, it still showed his smarts and his street sense. Not to mention his skills had increased greatly thanks to Fuu Hohuo teachings.
- The Cultural Value.
Like I mentioned above, the anime is a Chinese one not Japanese, and they made this well known in the Season 3. With the audio changing to Chinese and they explaining all the previous technique's with their chinese names and symbols ๐. I low-key love such small antics helps one to know a lot about what he's watching.
- The comedic gestures
I'm a real fan of action anime comedy, like a character can't be fighting all the time right? I have to say the comedic scenes in this film are really one of the best. When you are certainly sure something is going to happen, it just goes out of hand and gives you a good laugh๐๐
- The fights
This show has one of the best fight scenes in all anime if I do say so myself. The graphics are actually mid but in fights they transform to be something so great, you'll just be drawn into it.
What I Didn't like
Season 3
Season 3 is easily the worst part of this anime. With 8 episodes each testing your patience. In this season the producers decided to change the studio to a Chinese one. This brought a boat load off problems namely;Change of Audio
Like I understand it's a Chinese anime and so you would want it to be a chinese audio but viewers have already started watching it with Japanese audio stuck I'm their head. The voice actors got changed also. This really made listening to the anime hard, cause when you've accustomed someone's face with a particular voice, then another voice comes out of said face, it really confused you. (Or at least it confused me)Change in drawing
With the change in studio, the characters got drawn differently, it made them look a bit strange plus the different voices was like you were looking at bad clones trying to take over๐.
The Story
The story itself in season 3 was a bit unfulfilling.
We take a look into Wang Ye's life seeing his family members and how he was being targeted like Chou Soran for hiding one of the 8 secret arts. He then contact's Chou's Soran and the Express Delivery company for help in investigating who was after his family.
It is a nice story and it revealed a lot of things but it was and is too short to be called a season, to me I think it was just a filler arc.
Conclusion
In conclusion I'll have to say that Hitori no Shita is a pretty mid anime. I'll give it a rating of 6/10. If you're looking for action and comedy then this anime is for you๐.
