It's not over, Bleach!!! (I hope you get the pun.)
Few days ago, Bleach author, Tite Kubo, announced that a one-shot comics would be released as a celebration for the 20th anniversary of the manga. The one-shot is published on the Weekly Shounen Jump. You can buy a physical copy or read it for free on this LINK shared by the official Weekly Shounen Jump on Facebook.
(If you're a fan of Bleach, the one-shot is a must read! The characters also have their new look!)
The hype is real with Bleach coming out from the grave even if it's just a one-shot. People who have worked with this manga before have also shared the news. Even the actors from its musical play were sharing it. I'm so happy!!!
Anyway, this is just above the Bleach comeback, this post is actually for the Anime Blogging Challenge by . This is my entry to the tenth and final challenge,
"Your Favorite Anime"
To be honest, I have a couple of favorite anime. Naruto, Shingeki no Kyojin, Jujutsu Kaisen, Haikyuu!!, One Piece, Fate/Zero, Himouto! Umaru-chan, Puella Magi Madoka Magica.. but I choose to highlight Bleach for this post and share why it is among my favorites!
Bleach is a story about a high school boy named Kurosaki Ichigo who have agreed to become a shinigami to save his family from a hollow. The adventure begins after he have involved himself on saving Kuchiki Rukia from being executed for turning a human into a shinigami.
Bleach has become one of my most favorite anime because it's packed with awesomeness, amazing characters, humor, and lots and lots of action.
The isekai or another world concept of the story was great and it was also new to me that time so I was really engrossed to it. And heck, they fight with swords. Beautiful katana swords to be exact, which have names and levels up when the shinigami says the magic word, "BAN..KAI!" I remember I also once dreamed of having my own katana because of Bleach! Lol!
Each of the characters is interesting, though the number of characters on Bleach may be overwhelming at first as they are a lot, but it's not as many as One Piece. My favorite characters are Hiyori, Yoruichi, Kisuke, Kon, Kenpachi, Nel, Rukia, and 2nd division captain Sui-Feng. Speaking of captains, I admire their clothes a lot. Them wearing haori or the white robe-looking clothing on top of the usual black kosode, obi, and hakama makes them look really beautiful and clean and radiates authority and power. I also like that the underside of their haori have different colors. I also have to mention their footwear called waraji which was worn by samurai and soldiers in real life. The clothes worn on Soul Society plus the captain-vice captain-subordinate rankings and Gotei 13 feels like I am watching a historical Japanese story but with a twist of fantasy.
Each character also has fascinating powers and attack style, and it's always a surprise and joy whenever a character finally reveals their bankai. My favorite bankai are those from Byakuya, Sui-Feng and Zaraki Kenpachi (not yet animated).
If there's one favorite arc I would choose, it would probably when the ex-captains were introduced and the thousand year blood war. The thousand year blood war arc wasn't still animated and I hope it will as it was highlighted on the video uploaded on the 20th anniversary celebration. I think I'd shed a tear when the rumor about it getting animated is confirmed.
Anyway, Bleach also had its musical play about 10 years ago called Rock Musical Bleach or *Burimyu for short. Oh you guys don't know how crazy I was with this musical. It felt like I found a gem when I first discovered about it. If you're a Bleach fan and still haven't known about it.. why??? Check it out. I'm sure you'll love it! All the actors did well to portray the characters! Plus, you'll see the characters sing and dance!
(The musical returned in 2016 but with a new cast.)
So that's all! Bleach is a nice anime I could confidently recommend to anyone who wants to watch anime. And yeah, finally I have completed the Anime Blog Challenge! I hope there would be another challenge in the future! This is an awesome way to express and release our thoughts about the shows we are watching or reading. :)
Thank you!
