Buenos días, buenas tardes o buenas noches, damas y caballeros. ¿Cómo están? ¿Cómo se encuentran el día de hoy? Espero que muy bien. Yo, particularmente, ando buscando series nuevas para ver; ya saben, tanto live actions como animes. Evidentemente, no me puse a buscar mucho, solo me fijé en las portadas y, basado en eso, elegí algunas obras para ver. Aunque sí tengo mis favoritas, obras que realmente se ven buenas pero que tengo que esperar a que terminen para disfrutarlas bien. Mientras tanto, hablemos un poco de algunas que aún están en emisión y que considero que están decentes. Sin embargo, para serles sincero, con este anime al comienzo no tenía tantas expectativas y estaba a punto de dejarlo de ver, pero fue mejorando poco a poco, por lo que de cierta forma me agradó al final.
Muchos de seguro conocerán la típica historia de anime de fantasía oscura donde los héroes son elegidos por una diosa y luego el protagonista es desterrado por sus otros compañeros, ya que lo consideran un inútil debido a su habilidad, pero luego termina siendo todo lo contrario. Un claro ejemplo era el anime del Héroe del Escudo, con una primera temporada muy interesante. Este anime es prácticamente lo mismo, solo que la protagonista es una mujer, algo que podría decir que no se ve mucho. Efectivamente, al ver una mujer, eso activó mis hormonas y decidí echarle un ojo a ver qué diferencias había y si de verdad se trataba de una historia de venganza. De forma sorprendente, hallé algunos cambios a la fórmula usual, lo que mantuvo mi interés y lo que me hizo hacer este post. Así que, sin más dilación, hablemos un poco acerca de Roll Over and Die (aunque en realidad el título completo es larguísimo).
Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening, ladies and gentlemen. How are you? How are you feeling today? I hope you're very well. Personally, I'm looking for new series to watch—you know, both live-action and anime. Admittedly, I haven't searched much; I've just looked at the covers and, based on that, chosen a few works to watch. Although I do have my favourites—works that look genuinely good but that I have to wait to finish in order to enjoy them properly. Meanwhile, let's talk a bit about some that are still airing and that I consider decent.
However, to be honest with you, with this anime I didn't have high expectations at the beginning and was about to drop it, but it gradually improved, so in a way I ended up liking it.
Many of you will surely know the typical dark fantasy anime story where heroes are chosen by a goddess and then the protagonist is banished by his other companions because they consider him useless due to his ability, but he ends up being the complete opposite. A clear example was the anime The Rising of the Shield Hero, with a very interesting first season. This anime is practically the same, only the protagonist is a woman—something you don't see very often, I must say. Indeed, seeing a woman triggered my hormones, and I decided to take a look to see what differences there were and if it was truly a revenge story.
Surprisingly, I found a few changes to the usual formula, which kept my interest and led me to make this post. So, without further ado, let's talk a bit about Roll Over and Die (though the full title is actually extremely long).

El anime nos pone en la piel de la heroína llamada Flum. Su habilidad es la de Inversión y todas sus estadísticas son cero, lo que causa el repudio de cierto héroe dentro del grupo. Siendo así, Flum principalmente solo se dedicaba a mantener el grupo unido y a hacer labores domésticas, hasta que, cierto día, el héroe que le tenía odio decide deshacerse de ella, vendiéndola a un traficante de esclavos y siendo marcada por ello en su cara con el símbolo distintivo de los esclavos.
Una vez siendo comprada, Flum se encontrará en una situación de vida o muerte debido a que su vendedor ya no la quiere; la considera una estafa, por lo que, si quiere vivir, deberá matar a unos ghouls que colocaron dentro de su misma celda para que acaben con ella y los demás esclavos. Aunque el vendedor de esclavos no es tan malo, les ha dejado una espada de rango épico para que puedan defenderse, pero, evidentemente, hay trampa: la espada está maldita y quien la toque desintegrará su cuerpo.
Flum tiene la elección de morir luchando o siendo devorada. No le quedará otra que jugarse la vida. La sorpresa llega cuando se descubre el verdadero significado de su habilidad, Inversión, viéndose favorecida ante la maldición de la espada, aumentando sus estadísticas y obteniendo la habilidad de regenerarse. Los elementos contrarios de la espada se tornan a su favor, matando a los ghouls y al vendedor de esclavos en el proceso.
Una vez pasado todo eso, sale del lugar y se encuentra con otra esclava, la cual decide adoptar, volviéndose su ama. El objetivo de Flum será muy diferente al que pensamos: solo quiere pasar su vida tranquila junto a la chica que acaba de conocer y a la que quiere hacer la persona más feliz del mundo.
The anime puts us in the shoes of the heroine named Flum. Her ability is Reversal, and all her stats are zero, which causes her to be despised by a certain hero within the group. As a result, Flum mainly dedicated herself to keeping the group united and doing domestic chores, until, one day, the hero who hated her decides to get rid of her. He sells her to a slave trafficker, and she is marked on her face with the distinctive slave symbol as a result.
Once purchased, Flum finds herself in a life-or-death situation because her seller no longer wants her; he considers her a scam. Therefore, if she wants to live, she must kill some ghouls that were placed inside her very cell to finish off her and the other slaves. Although the slave trader isn't all bad, he has left them an epic-rank sword so they can defend themselves. However, there's a catch, of course: the sword is cursed, and anyone who touches it will have their body disintegrated.
Flum has the choice of dying fighting or being devoured. She has no option but to risk her life. The surprise comes when the true meaning of her ability, Reversal, is revealed. It works in her favour against the sword's curse, increasing her stats and granting her the ability to regenerate. The opposing elements of the sword turn to her advantage, killing the ghouls and the slave trader in the process.
Once all that is over, she leaves the place and encounters another slave girl, whom she decides to adopt, becoming her mistress. Flum's goal will be very different from what we might think: she just wants to live a peaceful life with the girl she has just met and whom she wants to make the happiest person in the world.

Lo que más me sorprende es que no estamos ante una historia de venganza convencional. Nuestra protagonista no se quiere vengar, pero de seguro lo hará con el héroe que le hizo daño si lo ve, ya que no es como los protagonistas convencionales que dudan en matar si ven a algún malhechor y que prefieren dejarlos vivir para que reflexionen y cambien, cuando todos sabemos que no todas las personas malas llegan a cambiar.
También tenemos aire fresco: no tenemos al típico protagonista masculino que se hace un harem con todas las chicas que va conociendo. En este caso, tenemos una historia un tanto yuri que, sinceramente, no está para nada mal.
Aunque no todo es color de rosa. Viendo los dos primeros capítulos sentía que la historia era bastante mediocre, como que no te explicaban nada y que todo pasaba porque sí. Las cosas comienzan a tomar un poco de sentido en los capítulos restantes, y se te presenta por primera vez lore que hace que te intereses por el mundo de los personajes. Además, parece haber un pequeño giro de tuerca que termina de cambiar todo. Solo diré: ¿demonios siendo buenos? Eso me interesa demasiado. Si se supone que ellos son los malos y hay que eliminar al Rey Demonio, veamos cómo se desarrolla.
Lo que puede que no me cuadre es no saber qué tan rota está la habilidad de la protagonista, porque regenerar extremidades es algo increíble. ¿Tendrá algún límite o es todopoderosa? Aún no puedo dar un veredicto en su totalidad, pero sí puedo decir que me llamó la atención, aunque sea un poco. Seguiré viendo de manera semanal, así que, sin más nada que decir, me despido por hoy.
What surprises me most is that this is not a conventional revenge story. Our protagonist doesn't want revenge, but she will certainly take it on the hero who hurt her if she sees him. This is because she is not like conventional protagonists who hesitate to kill if they see a wrongdoer and who prefer to let them live so they can reflect and change, when we all know that not all bad people end up changing.
We also have a breath of fresh air: we don't have the typical male protagonist who builds a harem with every girl he meets. In this case, we have a somewhat yuri story, which honestly isn't bad at all.
Although it's not all sunshine and roses. Watching the first two chapters, I felt the story was quite mediocre, as if they weren't explaining anything and everything just happened for the sake of it. Things start to make a bit more sense in the remaining chapters, and you're presented with lore for the first time that makes you interested in the characters' world. Furthermore, there seems to be a small twist that ends up changing everything. I'll just say this: demons being good? That interests me immensely. If they are supposed to be the bad guys and the Demon King must be eliminated, let's see how this unfolds.
What might not quite add up for me is not knowing how overpowered the protagonist's ability really is, because regenerating limbs is something incredible. Will it have a limit, or is she all-powerful? I still can't give a full verdict, but I can say it caught my attention, even if just a little.
