Buenos días, buenas tardes o buenas noches, damas y caballeros. ¿Cómo están? ¿Cómo se encuentran el día de hoy? Espero que muy bien. Yo, particularmente, comencé hace un buen rato otra vez el gimnasio y además conseguí inscribirme en la universidad; solo falta que publiquen los asesores para poder comenzar a por todas de una vez. Espero que no tarden mucho, quiero adelantar las tareas para que no me pase lo de la última vez, cuando dejé todo para lo último y hacer las tareas se volvió forzado.
En fin, mientras espero, obviamente decidí ver algunos animes por acá y por allá, para ponerme al día con mi lista de pendientes, la cual es bastante larga y, además, tengo que actualizarla con más animes que quiero ver, tanto nuevos como viejos.
En esta ocasión nos toca una historia en el espacio de supervivencia. Me recordó mucho esa temática a un anime de un mismo estilo que pasaban por Animax (canal de televisión de Latinoamérica de anime), pero en este caso hay un giro de tuerca que te mantendrá enganchado durante toda la serie, ya que parece haber un infiltrado entre todos ellos que intenta eliminarlos. Ellos no saben por qué y tendrán que averiguarlo, además de muchos otros misterios que se presentarán en el proceso de sobrevivir.
De verdad que tenía mucho tiempo sin ver algo así; esos animes que te ponen a pensar y a hacer teorías sobre quién podría ser el infiltrado y cuáles son sus motivos. Eso es algo que me gusta mucho y, aunque el final fue muy diferente del que me esperaba, me pareció bastante perfecto; incluso quedé encantado con todos los personajes, algunos más que otros, evidentemente.
Así que sin más dilación, hablemos de Kanata no Astra o, como se conoce de este lado del mundo, Astra: perdidos en el espacio.
Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening, ladies and gentlemen. How are you? How are you all doing today? I hope you're well. I, for one, started going back to the gym a while ago and also managed to enrol at university. Now I'm just waiting for them to publish the list of advisors so I can get started properly once and for all. I hope they don't take too long; I want to get ahead with my assignments so that what happened last time doesn't happen again, when I left everything to the last minute and doing the work became a real chore.
Anyway, while I wait, I obviously decided to watch a few animes here and there, to catch up on my to-watch list, which is quite long, and I also need to add more animes I want to watch, both new and old.
This time, we have a survival story set in space. That theme reminded me a lot of an anime of the same style that used to air on Animax (a Latin American television channel for anime), but in this case, there's a twist that will keep you hooked throughout the entire series, as there seems to be an infiltrator among them all trying to eliminate them. They don't know why and will have to figure it out, along with many other mysteries that will arise during the struggle to survive.
Honestly, it had been a long time since I'd seen something like this; those animes that make you think and theorise about who the infiltrator could be and what their motives are. That's something I really like, and although the ending was very different from what I was expecting, I found it rather perfect; I was even charmed by all the characters, some more than others, evidently.
So without further ado, let's talk about Kanata no Astra, or as it's known on this side of the world, Astra: Lost in Space.

El anime nos pone en la piel del grupo de estudiantes B5, los cuales serán enviados de excursión al planeta McPa. Al apenas llegar, una esfera blanca que aparece de la nada los llevará al espacio exterior, a 5000 años luz del planeta del que vinieron. Su misión será volver sanos y salvos, pero la tarea no será para nada sencilla. Con una nave que consiguen varada, deberán hacer paradas en diversos planetas para obtener recursos e ir poco a poco hasta llegar al destino final.
Una premisa bastante simple que, si le vas añadiendo condimentos, tendrás una tremenda historia que te atrapará de principio a fin. Yo simplemente puedo dar halagos a Kanata; es de los mejores personajes que he podido disfrutar en bastante tiempo. Es un verdadero capitán de principio a fin, poniendo su vida por delante para salvar a cada uno de sus compañeros, ya sea de situaciones peligrosas o problemas emocionales. Siempre tiene la solución; también lo podríamos llamar el eje del grupo. Aunque no todo trate directamente de él, él es quien debe tomar las decisiones y lleva el peso de toda la tripulación consigo, y sin dudas su desenlace te sacará bastante lágrimas de felicidad.
Aunque en el anime haya un infiltrado, no se le hace un énfasis marcado a eso. Nos enfocamos más en las historias de todos los tripulantes, por qué son como son, haciendo que nos encariñemos con ellos y nos sintamos parte del viaje. Quieres que salgan victoriosos, cada uno de ellos, inclusive el "impostor" que quiere acabar con ellos; victoriosos en el sentido de que sobrevivan.
Me encanta todo el elenco protagonista; está tan bien construido que hay algunos buenos desarrollos de personaje por acá y por allá. Además, si no te haces spoilers, te sorprenderá quién es el "malo" (aunque sinceramente no hay alguien realmente malo), porque es inesperado. Creo que el único personaje que no destaca mucho es la astronauta que despiertan de su cápsula.
The anime puts us in the shoes of the student group B5, who are sent on a field trip to the planet McPa. Upon their arrival, a white sphere that appears out of nowhere will take them into outer space, 5000 light years from the planet they came from. Their mission is to return safe and sound, but the task won't be easy at all. With a ship they find stranded, they will have to make stops on various planets to gather resources and gradually make their way to the final destination.
A fairly simple premise that, if you add some seasoning to it, becomes a tremendous story that will captivate you from start to finish. I can only give praise to Kanata; he is one of the best characters I've had the pleasure of watching in quite some time. He is a true captain from beginning to end, putting his life on the line to save each of his comrades, whether from dangerous situations or emotional problems. He always has the solution; you could also call him the heart of the group. Although not everything is directly about him, he is the one who must make the decisions and carries the weight of the entire crew with him, and without a doubt, his resolution will bring quite a few tears of happiness.
Although there is an infiltrator in the anime, it isn't heavily emphasised. We focus more on the backstories of all the crew members, why they are the way they are, making us grow fond of them and feel part of the journey. You want them to come out victorious, every one of them, including the "impostor" who wants to finish them off—victorious in the sense that they survive.
I love the entire main cast; it's so well-constructed that there are some good character developments here and there. Furthermore, if you avoid spoilers, you'll be surprised by who the "bad guy" is (though, honestly, there isn't anyone truly bad), because it's unexpected. I think the only character who doesn't stand out much is the astronaut they wake from her capsule.

Me gusta mucho, pero que mucho, los temas que intenta tratar y el mensaje tan marcado que tiene, donde no importa tu familia, tus genes o de dónde provienes; no importa si tus padres te tratan mal, tú mismo puedes decidir quién eres por tu propia cuenta. No debes dejarte manipular por imposiciones que solo tratan de hacerte sentir mal, tú mismo puedes decidir quién es tu verdadera familia y seguir adelante.
Enseña el hermoso valor de la amistad y el compañerismo, haciendo ver que todos los tripulantes son indispensables; si faltara alguno no podrían haber sobrevivido, ya que cada uno cumplía una función dentro de la nave. Nos enseñan cosas como que la crianza es lo que de verdad determina la personalidad de una persona, la identidad no está determinada al nacer, es totalmente moldeable.
Luego, viniendo temas más densos como la clonación humana, sobre si de verdad son humanos; temas también como la intersexualidad y cómo una persona con esa "condición" se siente al respecto.
Kanata no Astra es un anime bastante completo que nos hace plantearnos gran diversidad de preguntas, además nos anima a ser nosotros mismos, dejar el odio y enfocarlo de diferente manera, inclusive a disfrutar la vida; donde incluso cuando un viaje puede ser aterrador, puede terminar convirtiéndose en una experiencia emocionante y disfrutable. Solo tienes que seguir hacia adelante, correr y correr. También hay cuestiones sobre si una paz creada a base de una mentira debería prevalecer, o es mejor contar la verdad aún pudiendo desatar el caos en la población.
En fin, disfruté de principio a fin este anime, de lo mejor que he visto en mucho tiempo y, sin lugar a dudas, un sólido 9/10.
I really, really like the themes it attempts to tackle and its very strong message, where it doesn't matter about your family, your genes, or where you come from; it doesn't matter if your parents treat you poorly, you can decide who you are on your own. You must not let yourself be manipulated by impositions that only try to make you feel bad; you yourself can decide who your true family is and move forward.
It teaches the beautiful value of friendship and comradeship, showing that all the crew members are indispensable; if any were missing, they could not have survived, as each one fulfilled a function on the ship. It teaches us things like how upbringing is what truly determines a person's personality, that identity isn't determined at birth and is entirely malleable.
Then come heavier themes such as human cloning, and whether clones are truly human; also themes like intersexuality and how a person with that "condition" feels about it.
Kanata no Astra is a very complete anime that makes us consider a great variety of questions. It also encourages us to be ourselves, to leave hatred behind and redirect it in a different way, even to enjoy life; where even a journey that can be terrifying can end up becoming an exciting and enjoyable experience. You just have to keep moving forward, to run and run. There are also questions about whether a peace created based on a lie should prevail, or if it's better to tell the truth even if it could unleash chaos among the population.
In short, I enjoyed this anime from start to finish; some of the best I've seen in a long time and, without a doubt, a solid 9/10.
