Let's talk about Bocchi the Rock!, the best anime of the year 2022. —eng/esp

Back to the regular schedule, ladies and gentlemen. I've had a lot of anime to watch for years and obviously, this year I'm supposed to go ahead and watch a few (I'm about four years behind, I don't even remember which anime I wanted to watch, going as I go I'm too lazy to write down the names) plus I've yet to finish some very interesting ones that I left on hold (like the latest Gundam) and then update certain reviews, I hope to keep up the pace throughout the year if my mind and body allow me to, hopefully everything goes well and I can form an unbreakable discipline of steel. The anime I'm going to talk about next can be considered as a giant dethroner, no one expected it to be so popular and at such overwhelming levels, all this happening in the year 2022, where great works and renowned anime came out, for example Chainsaw Man, which everyone expected to monopolize the top 1 in all the trend lists but not at all, it was no match for Bocchi the Rock! provoking a lot of memes about how funny the situation was but becoming serious as the weeks went by and it always topped the charts. Bocchi the Rock! generated a lot of money, it made a huge amount of money, it sold thousands of Blu-rays in Japan, a parameter that determines the success of the work in that country. So without further ado, let's talk about what a huge success Bocchi the Rock! was and why.

Volvemos a la programación habitual, damas y caballeros. Tengo muchos animes pendientes por ver desde hace años y obviamente, se supone que este año me propuse adelantar y ver algunos cuantos (voy atrasado como cuatro años, ya ni recuerdo cuáles eran los animes que quería ver, yendo sobre la marcha me da flojera anotar los nombres) además de que me falta terminar algunos muy interesantes por ahí que dejé parados (como lo último de Gundam) para después actualizar ciertas reseñas, espero mantener el ritmo durante todo el año si es que mi mente y mi cuerpo me lo permiten, ojalá todo salga bien y pueda formar una disciplina de acero inquebrantable. El anime del que les vengo a hablar a continuación se le puede considerar como un destrona gigantes, nadie se esperaba que fuera tan popular y a niveles tan aplastantes, todo esto ocurriendo en el año 2022, donde salieron grandes obras y animes de renombre por ejemplo Chainsaw Man, del que todos esperaban acaparara los top 1 en todos las listas de tendencia pero para nada, no fue rival para Bocchi the Rock!, provocando un montón de memes respecto a lo chistoso de la situación pero tornándose en algo serio al ir pasando las semanas y siempre encabezar las listas. Bocchi the Rock! generó muchísimo dinero, pisoteó a todo el mundo vendiendo miles de Blu-ray en Japón, parámetro que determina el éxito de la obra en ese país. Así que sin más dilación hablemos del gran éxito que fue Bocchi the Rock! y a qué se debe.

The anime tells the story of Hitori Goto, an introverted girl who in her short life has never managed to make a friend because she finds it hard to communicate with other people, to the point where the other party has to start the conversation in order for her to talk. In her ambition to make friends and achieve fame, Goto decides to undertake the arduous task of learning to play her father's old guitar, eventually becoming quite popular on the internet but unable to achieve her real goal of gaining fame in real life. In one of his various attempts to strike up conversations with people to form a band, he decides to take his guitar to school in order to get people's attention and get them to talk to him, but it turns out to be a total failure until Hitori decides to go to a park to think about it, meeting Ijichi, a drummer who just happens to be looking for a band, a drummer who just happens to be looking for a guitarist to play in a club with her band. Once the opportunity presents itself, Bocchi is petrified, being dragged to participate and eventually becoming a member of the Kessoku Band, thus getting her long awaited chance to fulfil her dream. They will also be joined by Ryo and Kita, each of the girls having a distinctive personality and dreams to fulfil, making a fun group.

El anime nos narra la historia de Hitori Goto, una introvertida chica que en su corta vida nunca ha conseguido hacer una amiga porque le cuesta mucho comunicarse con otras personas, hasta llegar al punto de que la otra parte debe de comenzar la conversación para que ella pueda hablar. En su ambición para hacer amigos y conseguir fama, Goto decidirá emprender la ardua tarea de aprender a tocar la vieja guitarra de su padre, llegando tiempo después a ser bastante popular en internet pero sin poder conseguir alcanzar su verdadero objetivo de obtener fama en la vida real. En uno de sus diversos intentos por entablar conversación con personas para formar una banda, decidirá llevarse su guitarra a la escuela on el objetivo de llamar la atención de los demás y le hablen, resultando en un total fracaso hasta que Hitori decide irse a un parque a reflexionar, encontrándose con Ijichi, una baterista que justamente está buscando guitarrista para tocar en un club con su banda, una vez presentada la oportunidad Bocchi se quedará petrificada siendo arrastrada a participar y volviéndose al final una miembro de Kessoku Band, obteniendo así su tan esperada oportunidad de cumplir su sueño. También se les unirán Ryo y Kita, cada una de las chicas teniendo una característica personalidad y sueños por cumplir, haciendo un divertido grupo.

During the course of the plot we are shown in a very funny way the difficulties that a very introverted person can go through, from having social anxiety and not being able to look at people at all, as well as how to deal with that in a customer service job to playing badly an instrument that you master for the simple fact of being nervous about the people who might see you, we are even shown how Goto imagines comments or prejudices that do not really exist, harming herself. The good thing about this series is that we see a progress on the part of our protagonist, we really feel that the protagonist is evolving as the chapters go by, seeing how little by little she is gaining confidence and overcoming her fears, we can easily say that the Bocchi of chapter 1 is very different from the one of chapter 12, managing to do things that for example Komi-san can't do, where the manga even having already many episodes under its belt feels as if it hasn't advanced at all. The anime also gives us a glimpse into the dynamics within a band and what it's like to run one, such as the creative process of making songs or supporting each other to stand out from any adversity that comes their way.

Durante el transcurso de la trama se nos intenta mostrar de una forma muy divertida por las dificultades por las que una persona muy introvertida puede llegar a pasar, desde tener ansiedad social y no poder mirar en lo absoluto a las personas, además de cómo lidiar con eso en un trabajo de atención al cliente hasta llegar a tocar mal un instrumento que dominas por el simple hecho de estar nervioso por las personas que te puedan llegar a ver, inclusive nos muestran como Goto se llega a imaginar comentarios o perjuicios que realmente no existen, perjudicándose a ella misma. Lo bueno de esta serie es que vemos un avance de parte de nuestra protagonista, de verdad sentimos que la protagonista va evolucionando conforme pasan los capítulos, viendo así cómo poco a poco va agarrando confianza y superando sus miedos, podemos decir fácilmente que la Bocchi del capítulo 1 es muy diferente a la del capítulo 12, logrando hacer cosas que por ejemplo Komi-san no consigue hacer, donde el manga aún teniendo ya muchísimos episodios en su haber se siente como si no haya avanzado en lo absoluto. El anime también nos da un vistazo a las dinámicas dentro de una banda y cómo es el llevar una, como el proceso creativo de hacer canciones o apoyarse mutuamente para sobresalir de cualquier adversidad que se les anteponga.

I think one of the things that helped a lot to make the series a success is the magnificent animation by CloverWorks, who throughout the series are mixing different types of animation to represent different situations, we can find CGI, the curious rotoscoping and on several occasions stop-motion, so we get to see a work that involves a great effort but that ultimately paid off in addition to easily impress anyone who sees it. The soundtrack is also wonderful, from the beginning they delight you with an excellent opening and then they end up enrapturing you with the different songs that the band shows to the audience, being a total success that was reflected in the sales of CDs with these songs in Japan. It can also be said that the humour of the anime in question is not entirely Japanese and can be appreciated by western audiences, which is something that does not happen in other anime, making certain anime considered to be comedic only in their country of origin, this one surprisingly made me laugh, which is very difficult. This anime is easily entertaining and is quite good to pass the time, if you like slice of life and music, it's something you shouldn't pass up.

Creo que una de las cosas que ayudó muchísimo a que la serie fuera un éxito es la magnífica animación de parte de CloverWorks, quienes durante toda la serie van mezclando diversos tipos de animación para ir representando diferentes situaciones, podemos encontrar CGI, la tan curiosa rotoscopia y durante varias ocasiones el stop-motion, por ende podemos llegar a ver un trabajo que conlleva un gran esfuerzo pero que al final de cuentas rindió frutos además de que fácilmente impresiona a cualquiera que lo ve. De la banda sonora también solo podemos hablar maravillas, desde el principio te deleitan con un excelente opening y luego te terminan embelesando mediante las diferentes canciones que la banda va mostrando al público, siendo un éxito total que se vió reflejado en las ventas de CDs con éstas canciones en Japón. Se puede decir también que el humor del anime en cuestión, no es del todo japonés y puede llegar a agradar al público occidental que es algo que en otros animes no ocurre, haciendo que ciertos animes considerados de comedia solo den risa en su país de origen, este sorprendentemente me sacó varias risas, cosa que es muy difícil. Este anime es fácilmente entretenido y es bastante bueno para pasar el rato, si te gustan los slice of life y la música, es algo que no debes dejar pasar.
