Back in the 90s, when I was in elementary school, there were a lot of trends that we enjoyed. Of course, some of them that I was so into were anime and boybands like BSB, Westlife and so on. The reason why I mentioned them was because my first anime crush was somehow connected to my favorite boyband members. haha
To name a few, I love Nick Carter of BSB and Brian Mcfadden of Westlife. Back then, they were so attractive and they both had this hairstyle called curtain hair, though it was called "one-length" hairstyle in my country. The young me thought, that hairstyle was so attractive, so when I saw this particular anime character with the same hairstyle, I found him really cute. LOL
Who am I talking about? It's TRUNKS of DBZ!!!! <3
Well, it all started with his hairstyle and his attractiveness. I thought he's especially handsome compared to all the other characters in DBZ... and I still think so even until now. haha
But he's not all that. He's got a really strong personality, too... Well, I guess it's because he was a spoiled brat at first because both of his parents were quite unique. Though, he changed as he became more mature or at least when he was his future self. What I like about him aside from his appearance was his intelligence. He was smart, perhaps it's in his genes from his mother's side of the family. Well, Vegeta was also quite smart in terms of strategies in fighting and all.
Anyway, so much for that, let me show you the art progress. :)
I started with this very messy pencil sketch. I used my A5 sketchpad, so I'll just color it with colored pencil later on. And since it's messy, I had to erase the pencil sketch before coloring it.
I originally wanted to color it before inking, but the details were tinier than I expected, so I decided to just finish inking first...
I rarely draw a full body fan art because I'm lazy, but I wanted to challenge myself. It would be a good practice for me as well. I decided to try drawing or painting every Sunday, so I'll make some fan arts from time to time as well. :)
Even though I'm the lazy type, I enjoy coloring very much! It's therapeutic!
And here, my friends, is my fan art for my first anime crush... haha
Recently, Akira Toriyama-sensei passed away and even if we collected all the dragon balls, we still wouldn't be able to bring him back to life. It's sad to lose such a legend in this industry. He has paved the way for many shonen anime and games. He has inspired a lot of mangaka and even fans from all over the globe. He might have been gone, but his legacy still remains and it'll always will. I'm grateful to him for making my childhood extra special... that even more than 20 years has passed, I still find joy in anime. I just turned 33 yesterday and I'm not getting any younger, but this world will always keep my heart young.
Thanks for reading and checking my fan art. See you around! (^^,)/
