One of the most difficult questions that an anime fan is asked is who their favorite character is. I tend to have a favorite (even favorites) in every animated movie or series that I watched. And apart from that, it sometimes changes every time I re-watch the same series or film. I mean, we discover something new every time we watch something again and again.
Anyway, this is my entry for The Anime Realm Contest #3: My Favorite Character which is due in several hours. (It took me weeks to think... JK~)
Who Is Your Favorite Anime Character?
A fanart I made 7 years ago...
Since Haikyuu! is one of my favorite anime and I have watched all seasons around ten times already, I decided to pick my favorite from the said series. He is Kuroo Tetsurou, the captain of Nekoma High School Volleyball Club.
He isn't the main character and is not even a member of the main team of the series, but I love him!
Why do you like love this character?
because he's hawt
There are several reasons why I love Kuroo!
Aside from being hawt (lol), he's nerdy and goofy. I like characters who are dorky like him because they seem fun to be with. However, despite his dorkiness, he has pretty serious side.
He is the embodiment of the word "confidence". I like how he knows himself, both his flaws and good points. He's pretty confident in his abilities as an athlete because he has diligently worked for it and also as a person. His self-confidence is contagious in a way that people around him would feel motivated in doing something, including Kenma.
I love characters with a "gap". Kuroo is crazy, but he is very passionate and dedicated. I also love how he acts not only as a bestie, but also a brother and even a parent to his teammates and rivals alike.
I love how he took care and taught not only his teammates, but also players from the rival team. He just has so much love for volleyball.
And another thing, I love how he sassily and sarcastically argue with Yaku using chemistry-based insults. (This is such a plus point for me!)
When did you start liking the character?

He first appeared in the middle of season one when they had a practice game with Karasuno. That time, I thought he looked so cool, but I didn't know much about him as a character. He was diligent and was a great leader to his team. I remember him saying this famous line:
"We are blood in our veins. We must flow without stopping. Keep bringing oxygen, so that our brain can operate at his best."
After witnessing this, my heart went munekyun!!!!. The poetic side of me was hit by cupid's arrow. (lol... sorry, that was cringey.. xD) From then, he had a huge impact on me.
However, I loved him even more in season two, when he helped training Tsukki and Hinata together with Bokuto and Akaashi. My KuroTsuki heart started beating that time. hahaha
I fell in love with Kuroo even more in the manga when Karasuno and Nekoma played against each other in the Nationals. It's yet to be shown in the upcoming movie, but I'm so excited to see that part again!
What makes this character special from the rest?
This may be a spoiler for non-readers, but Kuroo has so much dedication for volleyball. After the time skip, he worked for Japan's Volleyball Association. Even though he doesn't actively play anymore, he decided to continue working hard behind the scenes.
He's someone who's willing to train even his rivals in order to have a more exciting game. His love for volleyball is to the roof and he doesn't forget how and why he found this love, so he always values the wishes of Nekomata-sensei and his team.
Lastly, he's special because he's Kuroo. He is himself... the confident, dedicated and crazy poetic nerd.
