Kaguya Sama is one of those anime of 2019 that enjoyed immense popularity, despite its short duration, it managed to sneak in among fans of the genre. Memes, trends on Twitter and largely due to social networks is that this series became very popular and a very recurring work of its kind, despite how different its execution may be at first. His original work is a manga made by Aka Akasaka and the studio in charge of the anime was A-1 Pictures, known to others as Fairy Tail, Ao no Exorcist, Sword Art Online, etc.
Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane are two prodigies who control the student council of their prestigious academy, making them right for each other. The two of them would be the perfect match, if it weren't for their pride and narcissism. The two will plan different stratagems to get the other to come forward first, and whoever does, will be the loser.
Kaguya Sama is mainly a comedy series, more than anything it has small self-concluding sketches on really varied topics, almost always having as its main theme the strategies of the protagonists, and how they use situations at will to achieve their mission. Despite the large number of programs that have this way of presenting the story, Kaguya sama is one that knows how to incorporate this very well with its cast of characters, which to be honest is not as extensive as you would think.
But this is precisely one of the series' strongest points. Despite not having so many characters, Kaguya Sama focuses on her group of protagonists who are very different from each other to show freshness and various ways of approaching the comic situations that are in the series. Although obviously the series has several secondary characters and they are very well used in interactions with the protagonists, and in fact many of the most comical scenes in the series are initiated by external characters, but always keeping in mind what the theme is of the series, something that is appreciated.
In addition to this, even though it may seem like just comedy, having the context that the characters live with, you give yourself all the freedom you want to create drama in a way that feels very natural, like the end of the first season or with the story of Ishigami. The series knows how to take advantage of its own comic resources very well to develop its group of main characters in a way that does not feel forced, something worthy of admiration to tell the truth.
Being a comedy series, it is evident that not all the scenes are going to have the same grace, that is, the humor is subjective, but here especially if there are certain scenes that make you wonder what you are watching.
As for the adaptation work, there are scenes from the original work that the anime simply does not adapt, but as for what is animated, I must say that I liked it a lot, this anime even knows how to improve the scenes of its manga , there are many things that a manga could not address, or issues such as the soundtrack are very important for an audiovisual medium as is the case.
In short, it is an anime that I liked, it has its ups and downs, like any other, but it is very enjoyable regardless of whether you like the genre or not. I must say that at first I refused to see it, because being mainstream something very random can come out, or it can be something very good, or it can be something very bad, you never know why something is usually so extremely famous, but the thing is that with Kaguya Sama I am more than satisfied, recommended.
