Last Friday was the showing of the new Jujutsu Kaisen movie here in Japan and being a JJK fan, I couldn't miss it. Tbh, I wasn't really as excited as Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle, probably because of what happened in JJK season 2. It was like different emotions were triggered every week that a new episode in season 2 was out. So I had no high hopes in this movie - I didn't even watched the trailer except for the teasers when I watch a movie in a cinema.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution Movie Reaction
Let's talk about my reaction to the movie - it left me speechless.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution is about a recap of the events of season 2, and some starting episodes of the next season which will be released on January next year. I guess it's meant to let you recall of the grueling and outstanding scenes from season 2 - probably a closure or an end of an era. And then, a new one begins.
START of spoilers from here on, but if you've watched season 2, this isn't a spoiler for you
The movie started with Gojo, fighting in Shibuya's subway with his domain expansion power which is the ultimate technique a jujutsu user has, only to end up being confined by a fake Geto. I was only able to admire my favorite character in just a few moments. And then, he was gone like that. How cruel can this anime be!
When the OST of season 2 was played in the background, I had goosebumps. I played that song a lot of times in the past. I didn't even skip that in the anime's intro. Watching it played in the movie hits different now. Probably because it holds a meaning now. π«
The fight scenes from the movie were incredible as usual! Almost all of the important characters that appeared in season 2 were given screen time: Inumaki was so cool shouting a command, Todo was courageously fighting the carefree and strong Mahito, and even Jogo made an appearance.
The face off of the father and son, Toji and Megumi Fushiguro was so exciting and at the same time, tragic. Toji was probably the strongest in his time so Megumi was surely having a hard time but when he realized who Megumi was, he did what a loving father could at that time - lose.
After all that emotional investment, another one just got added. I almost got teary eyed when Nanami was shown, and when he said "γγ¨γ―ι ΌγΏγΎγ" (translation: I'll leave the rest to you), I was about to breakdown. I couldn't eat my popcorn because my heart was so broken. He's also one of my favorites and when he said that to Yuji, I couldn't stop being so emotional. I understand why Yuji just stood there, unable to do anything while Nanami was being murdered.
The breaking point was when Kugisaki died. It was a beautiful death, I mean she was so pretty in that scene. But to see your classmate and friend died in front of you, I completely understand why Yuji just broke down like that. I was even holding back lots of tears!
After all the happenings in the Shibuya incident, the special grade jujutsu Okkotsu showed up. At first I was almost angry at him for being the puppet of the jujutsu org, and his involvement in Yuji's trial. I hated it! But later on, my impression of him changed. He's indeed a genius and a good student of Gojo sensei.
Choso who was part of the enemy now became their comrade. He's been protective of Yuji since then. He loved his "brother", which is like his innate personality, a loving and caring eldest. So when Naoya Zenin mentioned he didn't like his brothers, he couldn't understand him.
The movie ended with new comrades, some survivors of the Shibuya incident, now united with a new purpose. I wonder how the next season will fare, but one thing's for sure, even with my favorite characters out, I'll still continue to watch JJK. Can't wait for January!

Jujutsu Theatre In Shibuya
I decided to watch this movie in Shibuya because hello, it's the Shibuya incident arc. π But when I came to the theater, it really surprised me and now made me so excited to watch the movie.
These are the stairs leading to theater #2 where I would be watching the movie. They did a good job with this design!
When I entered the theater, the seats were covered with faces of the JJK characters. I immediately looked for my favorites! π
Everybody was so hyped when they see the seats, including me of course. Luckily I arrived early inside, so some seats weren't taken yet so I had time to admire and look.
I told myself I'd be so lucky if I sit on the chair with Gojo's face but he was one seat away from me so I guess that still counts as lucky? π
This theater doesn't have premium seats though, and I don't think other theaters are like this, not even IMAX. Maybe it's only in Shibuya because this is the Shibuya incident arc of JJK. By the way, I had to pay an additional 100 yen for this, not bad I think.
I also got free merch! Yay!
While the movie theater is so JJK themed and I like it, I don't think I'd go back here to watch another movie. But for the hype, I recommend. π
Thanks for reading!
See you around! γγγγγΎγγοΌ
