The Garden Of Words
Hello anime lovers, welcome to another blog of mine. Today I will be reviewing an Anime short film which is called "The Garden Of Words", this anime was recommended to me by someone from Hive, I saw his review and got to know that this anime is really good. So, I thought of giving it a chance and added this to my watchlist. I was very excited when I watched this anime, Finally I am gonna review it.
There's no fantasy element in this anime, but with its simplicity, this anime is beautiful. After watching this anime, you will get excited on rainy days because it will leave such lingering emotions in just 46 minutes. If you watch the trailer, you will realize how good the animation is, the visuals and dialogue are so heartwarming. Everything in this anime is utterly, unbelievably beautiful. Makoto Shinkai is truly a great director. His work always leaves me stunned, and I have cried so hard. I can't believe that this anime was released in 2013, with such a storyline and graphics.
Spoilers Ahead!
The story begins with Takao Akizuki. He is a 15-year-old boy who's a student but often skips classes to practice. His family is not that supportive of him and is also a broken family. He often visits a garden when it rains he finds that place suitable to make his shoes in peace. One day, during the rain, he met a woman who was older than him and her name is Yukino. Both were looking for someone to open up to, like a friend, and they ended up meeting each other on rainy days.
Takao used to skip his classes, and Yukino also avoided work. She was a teacher, and for some deep personal reasons, she used to skip it. Takao and Yukino's relationship started to grow as time passed. When Yukino realized their feelings were mutual, she still was not ready to move forward in the relationship because Yukino is older than Takao—she's a teacher, and he's still a student. The age gap was stopping Yukino from being true to her feelings.
The ending was bittersweet. I went through many emotions in just 46 minutes. Both of the characters are so good that I wanted a happy ending for them. I could clearly feel the emotions they went through. The graphics are soothing to the eyes. Rain could look so beautiful in an anime that's unexpected. The story is realistic, and it happens in real life too. If you have a thing for forbidden love, then you will love this kind of story.
I would say, if you want something in life, then you must take a stand for it and raise your voice. Being a people pleaser and staying in the back, listening to others, is not going to take you anywhere. Because this will hamper your aim in life, and you will be clueless about what you want to do. So, the sooner you realize it, the sooner you can overcome it. It's important to get out of your comfort zone to choose what you want to do. Also, standing up against the wrong thing is the most important lesson. This short movie will teach you many life lessons.
I can definitely compare this anime to the movies of Ghibli standards. The story will linger in your heart and teach you that some people come into your life not to stay, but to help you grow. They are a chapter of our journey. Each chapter has something special, and sometimes it can also turn out negative, but we always have to move forward and never turn back. Because we are supposed to move forward, not backward. Life is full of struggles, and we have to face them with courage.
If you are into calm movies, then this is a good choice. The lighting, the colors, the music and you might find a relatable character. Because in teenage years, people often fall for someone older, and many might find this relatable. For some reasons, they cannot make any progress in this love because of the age gap, and this happens a lot around us. I feel love has no age, but people should wait to become an adult because we also make mistakes during our teenage years. So, I feel this movie has portrayed love in a pure way.
Lastly, I would request everyone to try out this movie, don’t miss it because it’s too good. Also, let me know in the comment section if you have watched this anime or not. If so, did you like it or not? I really appreciate honest opinions, so feel free to write down what you want to.
