excerpt from the lizard cave
My breath skipped as I observed this reptilian figure tower over me, It stood very tall, much taller than the average person, its small round eyes seemed to pierce my very being, It was the same Old reptile that approached me earlier, I could recognize the white beards.
Hello folks, I wrote a concluding part to the lizard cave story if you wanna check it out from the excerpt above but in this post I want to delve a bit into the anatomy of this race of creatures, I must confess that I hadn't really thought about this but I figured it is a very necessary step in world-building to build a strong foundation from the roots.
The first thing that struck me was the name, what name would I give this race of creature? I pondered over it for a long time and decided on the name "ORKTARG" I'm going to refrain from how exactly I arrived at that name so as to preserve its novelty but it took me quite a while, it's funny how something so simple can have such an impact, perharps, it's also due to the reason that once I give it a name, I can't take it back.
The average height of the Orktarg male is approximately 6'9 very much taller than the average man, the male also have a muscular frame with low body fat, they possess a tail adding to their reptoid figure. the tail and long limbs also help them swim and navigate the underwater caverns very effectively.

Another feature to take note of is the eyes, they have small eyes, that is because they are cave dwellers and their habitat has little light, while it can be normal for creatures to evolve large eyes to this set of conditions, The Orktarg instead, evolved to have larger ear-drums and smaller beady eyes.
Their ear-drum takes a very prominent percentage of their skull, they have a very sharp and advanced sense of hearing, they mostly don't even need their eyes except in high risk situations, they can easily detect shapes and sizes of objects just by the deflecting sound-waves from their surroundings which adds to their agility.
That is all the prominent feature of the Orktarg Male, I will be delving further into the Orgtarg society and evolution with broader landscape concepts in the coming episodes, my brain is beaming with a lot of ideas, I'm actually excited about this. I plan to make 3d rendering of this in the future cause I have some experience with blender due to my game-dev endeavors. Although its good to take things One step at a time, so I don't get overwhelmed.
I never knew when I wrote the original fiction piece that I would be coming back to this years later, This comment under the original piece drew my attention, It's funny how things work together.
