Behold! A flaming angelic deity that I drew today.. by accident.
Look at the scanned drawing, then let me briefly explain.
So, I draw every single day. Being human though, there are times when the creative buzz just isn't there. I have a few methods to get around this. One, which I utilized here, is to set a challenge for the particular drawing that I will be working on that day.
I guess I am a process driven person and a different way of approaching the simple activity of making marks on paper excites me.
I might attempt to draw something realistic, or something which in reality is physically impossible. Maybe I will craft an image using just dots, or straight lines, or perhaps circles.
Here, my task was to draw something symmetrical with no pencil or guidelines. I basically went line for line, left side right side. I built the image up very slowly, working intuitively until the angel character revealed itself. I actually began with the page the other way around. I turned the page at one point to make it easier to repeat a big curved line and realised that it looked so much better upside down! I love those unexpected moments.
Oh and for materials I used a cheap pilot fountain pen and some nice german drawing paper.
Thanks for having a look!
I really need to remember to take progress shots..
