Hello community, I hope you are doing well, for a long time I wanted to do something with slightly extravagant colors since I don't really have many works of this style, besides I also wanted to draw many eyes on a character and give it this creepy look, recently my friend
created a drawing using similar colors and that encouraged me much more to make one in my own style, I really love how her illustration turned out and all her works are being incredible lately.
Hope you like.
Proceso/Process
I created the sketch, I really didn't have much faith in it at first I felt it was ugly lol but I decided to continue because many times you have to trust the process, I put a gray background so as not to go blind while painting and I began to apply a color palette of tones slightly desaturated reds, for her hair I used a shade between dark reddish brown and I decided to paint her clothes with a similar color but a little darker, and with black I added some folds to her clothes, I was thinking of doing a more low-cut style of clothes but I I like to see her with this wide clothes.
Something that cost me a lot to do was her eyes, I don't know, I think that since the tones were so dark, it was a bit difficult for me to understand how to paint correctly, but after several hours of work I managed to make her look the way I wanted, I shaped all the face and I started to add some light details, for the lights on her face I used a yellow tone, I felt it would make a good contrast with the red, and with a hard brush and the opacity at 100% add some white dots inside these highlights of yellow light.
On her clothes, paint other details like these kind of straps, add lights in the corner of the silhouette using a blend mode on “screen” and a very bright red tone, now paint the background with black.
Using the same shade of red that I used for my silhouette I started to paint the background, for this I used a brush with a chalk texture, with a low opacity in the parts that are far from my character and a high opacity right in the center, I added more light details on her face and finally apply some adjustments so that the image had more contrast and depth.
I'm very happy with the result because it looks very scary, I love this type of illustration, I'm thinking of doing some more things with this horror style.
