Process in pictures - Proceso en imágenes

I love nature and not only gardens, parks, the sea, forests or mountains but also natural phenomena, of course not caused by name, but purely natural phenomena and within them I am fascinated by tornadoes and the energy and force they contain.

Many times in life we also go through tornadoes, until we find ourselves in the eye of the tornado, in the centre, it seems that a situation will never end. This relates to the previous designs about the mind, the eruptions, as I like to relate nature to the life of man itself.

These tornadoes start with a storm that turns everything grey, rainy, there are even surprise lightning strikes, like things that happen beyond our control. The tornado funnel is formed, which sweeps away everything it touches and it seems that everything is going to be destroyed. But like all storms, after a while it passes. There is destruction, yes, but it can always rise again and that is where the waves of colour appear in the darkness. Maybe a piece of news, a little thing that could be solved, something that gives hope.

Tornadoes destroy, but then comes the calm that brings the possibilities of colouring life, it is up to us to make everything better from then on.

Design process

I composed the design with eight images and in eighteen layers, within Photoshop without using AI.

To create the background I used an image of a sea, in all greys and then on top of it I put an image of a grey sky in two layers, a storm with lightning, erasing the lower part. I used the fusions of focal light and darker colour. Then I put the purple lightning image in two layers as well and flipped one of them horizontally. The blend I used was raster.

Then I started to work on the image of the first tornado, erasing the bottom part to merge it with the sea, in two layers with focal light and soft light fusions. On top of it I put the image of the first woman in full body with a dress that matches the design, giving it a lot of movement and I used the fusion of strong light. These three layers only appear in the animation for a moment, as if telling part of a story.

Then I worked on the image of the second tornado that can be seen more closely, erasing almost all the background, I placed it in two layers with strong light and soft light fusions and on this I placed the image of the woman's face in several layers, where in some of them I erased almost all the background. The fusions I used in this image in the different layers were: focal light, lighter colour, soft light and normal light.

In three layers and in different places of the design I used again the first tornado, one layer is right on the woman's head and the other two on the sides, using the focal light fusion. Finally, under the layers of the woman's face I put the waves of colours in two layers modifying in one the position by turning it horizontally and in both I used the fusion of intense light. Then in the animation these colours will be interspersed.

The animation is done completely in After Effects, working on the opacity of each layer and adding lights in the form of clouds for better contrast.

Me encanta la naturaleza y no sólo los jardines, parques, el mar, los bosques o las montañas sino los fenómenos naturales, por supuesto no provocados por el nombre, sino los puramente naturales y dentro de ellos siento fascinación por los tornados y la energía y fuerza que estos contienen.

Muchas veces en la vida también pasamos por tornados, hasta encontrarnos en el ojo del mismo, en el centro, pareciendo que una situación nunca va a terminar. Esto se relaciona con los diseños anteriores sobre la mente, las erupciones, ya que me gusta relacionar la naturaleza con la vida misma del hombre.

Esos tornados comienzan con una tormenta que todo lo vuelve gris, lluvioso, incluso hay rayos sorpresivos, como cosas que ocurren más allá de nuestro control. Se forma el embudo del tornado, que arrasa con todo lo que toca y parece que todo va a ser destruido. Pero como toda tormenta, luego de un tiempo pasa. Hay destrucción, si, pero siempre se puede volver a resurgir y es allí donde aparecen las ondas de colores dentro de tanta oscuridad. Tal vez una noticia, una pequeña cosa que se pudo resolver, algo que da esperanza.

Los tornados destruyen, pero luego viene la calma que trae las posibilidades de colorear la vida, de nosotros depende que a partir de allí todo sea mejor.

Proceso del diseño

El diseño lo compuse con ocho imágenes y en dieciocho capas, dentro del programa Photoshop sin utilizar IA.

Para crear el fondo usé una imagen de un mar, en todos grises y luego sobre él puse una imagen de un cielo gris en dos capas, una tormenta con rayos, borrando la parte inferior. Usé las fusiones de luz focal y color más oscuro. Luego puse la imagen de los rayos en color morado en dos capas también y a una de ellas la volteé horizontalmente. La fusión que usé fue trama.

Posteriormente comencé a trabajar la imagen del primer tornado, borrando la parte de abajo para fusionarla con el mar, en dos capas con fusiones luz focal y luz suave. Sobre ella puse la imagen de la primera mujer de cuerpo entero con una vestimenta que combina con el diseño, dándole mucho movimiento y usé la fusión de luz fuerte. Estas tres capas, sólo aparecen en la animación por un momento, como contando parte de una historia.

Luego trabajé la imagen del segundo tornado que se ve más de cerca, borrando casi todo el fondo, lo coloqué en dos capas con fusiones de luz fuerte y luz suave y sobre esto puse la imagen del rostro de la mujer en varias capas, donde en algunas borré casi todo el fondo. Las fusiones que usé en esta imagen en las distintas capas fueron: luz focal, color más claro, luz suave y normal.

En tres capas y en diferentes lugares del diseño volví a usar el primer tornado, una capa está justo en la cabeza de la mujer y los otros dos a los lados, usando la fusión de luz focal. Finalmente, debajo de las capas del rostro de la mujer puse las ondas de colores en dos capas modificando en una la posición volteándola horizontalmente y en ambas usé la fusión de luz intensa. Luego en la animación estos colores se van a intercalar.

La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste.
