Hello hello~ I haven't been around lately but how are you guys? I have been... exponentially busy since the work promotion I got and I don't think I've been coping in the best ways XD mostly sleep, gym, and retail therapy, actually but I always end up knocked out doing any of those sooo I haven't really had the time to do much art or blogging after work. Now my training has been progressing quite nicely and I can squeeze in some art things and my drawings and I hope I can keep this up before the big shipment arrives by mid december.
Going back to the blog, I was watching howl's moving castle lately and I really did like his crow form so I tried to do that from memory.
Software: GoPaint
Duration: 2 hours
I think I made him look a little sad. Probably from how sad I've been lately too because whenever I watch this movie and howl tells Sophie that he's been searching for her for a thousand years, that get to me but also sad because sometimes I wonder if there's also someone searching for me while I'm searching for them and we just don't cross paths.
But also sad because I feel like that could have been my ex but we just don't know what we're searching for in each other which was why we kept crossing each other and it's a lot of sad thoughts going through my head while I was making this so it kind of just bled ito the art on it's own.
For my progression:
This was how I sketched and blocked the colors a little while I was trying to decide how to go blue without me losing interest because I rarely find motivation to finish a blue piece.
Then I did the face and smudged out a bit of the black wings/feathers and kind of made it look like he was losing some of his feathers in the wind for a bit of a dramatic efect. So for the brushes I used, I focused on oil brushes here because I want it to have that kind of texture.
After a bit of the face, I worked on a bit of the feather texture. So the thing with oil is that you have to work on it in layers because if you do a single layer kind of thing like what I usually do with ink, you end up just blending the colors and in the end it dulls and grays out so you really have to layer it out and just merge the layers if you're not the type who likes so many layers like me. I think I may have done 10 or so layers there before I was satisfied with it.
Then after the feathers and wings, I added the final small details, highlights, more black then IDK why I never bothered adding more definition to it, I guess I just wanted to keep that sad dream vibe to it.
And thus, I am done!
Since I can finally do a bit more things now in between work... I hope I can keep blogging again UwU
Imma try to give cat updates because Carlito has been happy with the Christmas tree again and my travels this past month UwU
For now, this is all from me! I'll try to be around again! Hopefully permanently XD but with the flow of work, I dunno XD
