Hello hello! I have returned after hibernation and a grueling week at work. For this week, I went with another somg inspired route because I listen to music in the lab every day anyway, but I have this particular song on repeat since it's been raining here this week and for some reason, I always look for this song when it rains.
Although I have other songs in my rainy day playlist, this song has been there the most and I've always wwanted to draw something insppired from this song but I lacked the time and the skills before to actually execute the idea. Noww that I've gained some skills and my art execution is improving ever so slightly each time, I thought I could give it a go now, and I did!
So without further ado, I present my burnt out, yet still very sexy man
Materials used: Ink, pen, fineliners, white gel pen and a paintbrush
Duration: Accumulatively 3 hours
Then this is the song I based that on:
I've always loved this song since I discovered it in 2012, on the peak of my korean song addiction phase. And so many good songs came out from that addiction one by one, and so many ideas I couldn't execute back then. So now, I'm trying to pull off those ideas one by one while putting these old songs on repeat.
The most striking lyrics from this song to me though were at the end. Like, I know the entire song has a heavy feel to it, like you can definitely feel how tired the artists were while singing/rapping but idk, there's a different heaviness with finally accepting the loneliness you get after a break up. I think it matches quite well with the abrupt ending of the song.
Here are the progression shots while I was working on the piece:
I tried something wweird here cuz I remembered the thing I did with the white jelly ink last inktober and I had this idea to use a paintbrush to just spread the white ink around and create a bit of texture. All I can say is that it did spread, it just didn't create that much noticeable texture, but I like that the wway the white ink spread wwas a lot more controlled compared to when I use fingers, so maybe I'll try working with this technique a little more and see which brush will give me that texture I'm looking or cuz right now, it's just all smooth.
Bonus shot, cuz there was a puppy watching me draw and in the middle of drawing, he hugged my arm and just fell asleep while I continued drawing XD
That's all from me today, folks! see you on my next blog. I really need to make time for stem blogs again ;;-;;
