HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!
Well, It's Easter here and I'm just doing stuff according to my list XD but I do think my list is pretty spring coded so it's just so soft and so pastel and so colorful and I am suddenly bringing out all my color theory knowledge out because I haven't used colors in months and this feels like a breath of fresh air to me!
In alignment with Easter sunday, I made a little chick in the egg ^^
Duration: 1.5 hours, not including drying layers
Materials: Water colors , color pencils, white acrylic marker
So I wasn't expecting this to be so cute but I think muscle memory is finally cooperating with me here XD
I still have pretty blotchy highlights, especially on the egg shell but I did not know acrylic markers blotted like that XD and now I know!
So initially I wanted to do this fully in watercolor but by the 2nd layer... and the fact that the colors were not building up the way I wanted to, I had to pull out my magical pencil color tool box XD it's like 100+ pieces and I haven't used it since last year so what better time to go about using it than now XD
first few layers, I was very hesitant with yellows, oranges and browns. Eventually I worked up my details with grays and a bit of maroon. I had forgotten how messy I've always been when have to pull this set out XD but I wanted to do something good since it is a new sketchpads I'm working with. And I did realize I should have done this with the birds I did earlier too.... but I was fixated on using my fineliners for it
So this is when I finally used black and blended it all together with the white pencil, the light yellow one and the lightest shade of gray I could find. The fact that the paper is textured and was designed to be used for watercolor did not help me soothe down the texture but I think it's cute and added that very classic art kind of look to it
For the highlights, I did use the white acrylic marker but I also used a white and very light orange gel pen to give it a bit more dimension because I did not like it looking flat. I do think I'm still struggling to use the acrylic marker ^^ but I will get used to it eventually. I just need a bit more practice to make up for the months that I couldn't draw.
So next on my dilemma is... Will I end up doing Mermay if I can stay consistent? Will I be able to do Splinterlands and holozing art again? We'll see XD because my holidays can only go for so long and I have a few trips I have planned in May ^^ so let's just wish me and my consistency luck because I'm really going to need it XD
This is all from me for today! I'm trying to catch up to the rest of the prompts I couldn't and haven't done yet
again, HAPPY EASTER AND HAPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
