A Celtic Knot is a complete loop with no beginning or end. It represents the eternity of nature. Depending on the pattern there's a specialised meaning assigned to it.
The Tree of Life is an important symbol in many different cultures. To the Celts, the Tree of Life symbolised wisdom, strength and longevity. It also represents rebirth since trees lose their leaves in fall, appearing to be dead in winter but unfold new and fresh leaves in spring. The tree of life connects above and below, the upper world and the underworld with the Earth.
I love this art and its meaning. It's really interesting and fascinating with lots of wisdom.
I created this Celtic Mandala by putting different knots together, twisting and tweaking them a bit and that's what came out. If you're interested in getting to know how to paint this knot, I'm going to share with you a tutorial about it in the upcoming days.
