This is a digital painting I have done in the first couple of days when I managed to get an Ipad. I started with wanting to draw something connected to a story and I ended up with a more meaningful depiction of my inner world.
I think that we often chase happiness outside , starting from an early age. When we are born we are happy. A baby laughs and is all giggly by default. As we grow up that inner giggle fades away and is replaced with the idea of need. I need this or that in order to be happy. If someone sits alone and smiles ,for no reason that we can explain ,we think of him or her as being either aloof, funny or insane.
When you walk into a forest and fog sets it you immediately lose sight of the trees. You have an idea of their presence but the misty atmosphere makes it harder for you to imagine the previous perspective. You can try and climb higher or find another place , but still the fog will cover the view.
In this drawing the little teddy has no idea of the light behind and inside of him. He sits down, sad , thinking how he will never have the perfect view of the forest. How he is always alone and not understood. But as he sits with his thoughts he realizes that the light comes from within. That the sense of pure joy can only be experienced inside as the outer world is impossible to control.
Indeed one has to ask themselves : what is it inside of me that makes me feel sad about being alone? If someone really likes and enjoys their own company, being alone should not be an issue. But there is also the idea of feeling like this despite being surrounded by people. This happens because of the expectations we attach to the interactions.
Inevitably people will dissappoint you . They will make mistakes. They might lie and deceive. The same things you will do to yourself and if you sit alone for a while you awaken. Then and only then you understand how the Universe is truly a mirror and how all of the journeys you have taken took you closer to your inner light which was waiting to be rediscovered.
