This pair appeared in my sketchbook this week
Maybe it was all the 'UFO' talk in the news (eyeroll) but this week, darling little robot/androids began to creep into my daily sketching.
Evangeline with trepidations tottered out into the cold Spring day, accompanied by her boon companion, Bertie.
I love thinking of various timelines running parallel to our own. Imagining a Victorian afternoon when a young girl, sneaking from the watchful eye of Nanny, wants to discover the joyous new buds of Spring.
Nannies and Governess' and schoolrooms were one thing, but on such a day as this Evangeline had to sneak off with Bertie, her Bot was particularly adroit at naming all the new flowers in proper Latin.
It could also be the new movie M3GAN slipped into my subconscious. Tho I have not seen the film (Gosh I've not been to the cinema in donkeys years) I've seen trailers and watched 'reviews'. Perhaps that and my own Singularity paintings of the past, has inspired this duo to appear in my #sketchbook.
However it's come about, in line with this year's art resolutions of let my pencil and brush follow the whim and passion of the moment rather than feeling I'm all over the place in style, I can feel I'm simply filling out my various "series" and I feel this could fit into my Singularity series. Perhaps the children's books of the creatures peopling that world?
How do you feel about the UFO talk (distraction of fact?) and do you think with AI and bots, we're heading into that Brave New World of Man and Machine with the emphasis on the latter?
I hope you find a moment in your day to indulge in your passions.
