She awoke with a start
Then she considered what "awoke" was?
She, for she did feel 'she', was aware of the I of life; if someone handed her a looking glass she'd say that was 'me' in there and not heave stones at it like an irate ape.
She felt something warm and wet on her hand
Knowing, intuitively, that she had a hand and that, well, it COULD fee warm and wet things.
Alive
It came reverberating through her...did she want to say circuitry? Mind? Thoughts? It was hard to make such distinctions when the warmth of the thing making slobbery wetness on her hand was so soft and darling.
Her companion, by her side looked up and wagged it's tail
She knew that word, companion...and tail...and just now, with kisses and wags and furry nuzzles she knew another word:
JOY
And so, it follows, that Love was not far behind in her recognition.
Well, that was sort of what was going through my head when sketching this idea out awhile back. A Singularity lady awakening in the 'after' times by her furry companions.
I always feel the need for sweet animal friends to accompany my Singularity ladies. This 'after time' I envision when the arrogance of "science" and "tech" felt that the human species wasn't good enough, so they'd play God a bit and see how they could improve upon it...as well as improve upon the world.
In my vision, their improvement of the World left it rather empty other than with their 'human/hybrid' improvements to wander about wondering at their own creation.
I made this a bit ago and on another 'sort and organize work to finish' day over my 'weekend' I couldn't help revisit her story. I think she deserves to be finished so she shall be.
For now I hope you like her startled gaze and her loving furry chums. I'll leave you to consider what book she might have been reading before being 'shut down by the event'...I think it might be a slim first edition volume of Browning, but I'll leave it up to you to decide in your 'world' what she'd be reading.
Thank you for indulging my in my little storylines that always accompany my work. They give rise to creation, sometimes, or other's I'll create and then their stories will come. Either way, mostly , the stories stay in my head, but I like sharing them this way, so I might continue on this funny half story half illustration format.
