Mother of Liberty
This illustration came from a desire to blend digital tools with the tactile feel of classical painting. I wanted the brushstrokes to be visible and the textures to stay imperfect, giving the figure a sense of physical, almost sculptural weight.
The piece centers on a winged figure holding the Venezuelan flag. It’s not just an accessory; I wanted the tricolor to drape naturally, as if it were part of her body, using the contrast against the turquoise background to give it full visual prominence.

Esta ilustración nació de la intención de mezclar lo digital con esa sensación matérica de la pintura clásica. Quería que se notara el rastro del pincel, las texturas imperfectas y que la figura tuviera un peso real, casi escultórico.
La pieza se centra en una figura alada que sostiene la bandera de Venezuela. No es solo un accesorio; busqué que el tricolor cayera con naturalidad, como si fuera parte del cuerpo, dándole ese protagonismo visual a través del contraste con los fondos turquesas.
A bit of the process:
The Finish: I wasn't looking for a polished or "clean" render. Instead, I focused on using brushes with visible grit and bristles to capture the hand’s gesture in every stroke.
Composition: The blindfold and the halo above are meant to add a mystical layer, balancing the strength of the anatomy with the symbolic weight of our colors.
Ultimately, it’s a stylistic exercise where the technique tries to pay tribute to our roots.
Un poco del proceso:
El acabado: No busqué un renderizado pulido o "limpio". Me enfoqué en usar brochas con grano y cerdas marcadas para que se sintiera el gesto de la mano en cada trazo.
Composición: La idea de la venda y el halo superior busca darle un aire místico, equilibrando la fuerza de la anatomía con la carga simbólica de nuestros colores.
Al final, es un ejercicio de estilo donde la técnica busca rendirle homenaje a lo que somos.
