The German philosopher Immanuel Kant spent his entire life locked up, he did not make any trips, at least in physical body, but that did not prevent his mind from traveling so far that he asked big questions and proposed theories that are still being discussed today. I say this because I have not traveled for many years to enjoy a moment where I feel apart, however that was not an impediment to seek inspiration in my own home. I made a drawing that I want to share with you, I made this drawing from a photograph that I took, of a scene that I formed myself. I gathered some stones in the garden and stacked them close to each other, I turned on the water and let everything flood, seeing that everything was as I wanted, I took a photograph, my idea was to recreate a scene of a beautiful river. From this image I let my imagination fly in terms of shapes and colors, I hope you like this little trip where I show the process. Let's get started!
El filósofo aleman Inmanuel Kant la pasó encerrado toda su vida, no hizo ningún viaje, al menos en cuerpo físico, pero eso no impidió que su mente viajara tan lejos que formulara grandes preguntas y propusieras teorías que aún en la actualidad se discuten. Digo esto porque tengo muchos años sin viajar disfrutar de un momento donde me sienta apartado, sin embargo eso no fue impedimento para buscar inspiración en mi propia casa. Hice un dibujo que quiero compartir con ustedes, este dibujo lo hice a partir de una fotografía que hice, de un escenario que yo mismo formé. Junté algunas piedras en el jardín y las apilé unas cerca de otras, abrí la llave del agua y dejé que todo se inundara, al ver que todo estaba como quería tomé una fotografía, mi idea fue recrear una escena de un hermoso río. A partir de esta imagen dejé volar mi imaginación en cuanto a formas y colores, espero que les guste este pequeño viaje donde muestro el proceso. Comencemos!

I used a cardstock with which I have a love-hate relationship, since the surface is porous and sometimes sabotages the finish of my drawings, but other times it serves my purposes very well. Over time I have been learning what kind of drawings to use it for, so I made a sketch of all the stones which I drew without any resemblance to the photograph I took as a reference, more than simply having an idea of how to put them.
Utilicé una cartulina con la cual tengo una relación de amor y odio, ya que la superficie es porosa y en algunas ocasiones sabotea el acabado de mis dibujos, pero otras veces sirve a mis propósitos muy bien. Con el tiempo he ido aprendiendo para que clase de dibujos usarla, así que hice un boceto de todas las piedras las cuales las dibujé sin ningún parecido a la fotografía que tomé como referencia, más que simplemente tener una idea de como ponerlas.

I also did the style of the rocks in a free way, since it is difficult to replicate as seen in the photo, but I gave it other shapes following my own instinct, I also gave more importance to color than to shapes, I wanted the colors to look very vivid. Have you ever seen gasoline spilled on the water? a rainbow of colors is formed that I have always liked, those waves that are formed I wanted to take that example for the lines and colors.
El estilo de las rocas también lo hice de forma libre, ya que es difícil replicar tal como se ve en la foto, pero le di otras formas siguiendo mi propio instinto, además le di más importancia al color que a las formas, quería que los colores se vieran muy vivos. Alguna vez han visto la gasolina derramada sobre el agua? se forma un arcoíris de colores que siempre me ha gustado, esas ondas que se forman quise tomar ese ejemplo para los trazos y los colores.

I wanted to mix all the colors but also give them a meaning. For example, I made a row of warm colors on some stones while I put cold colors on another row. In the end you can see that the cold colors are on the sides while the warm colors are in the center, just like the heart of man. I think it's a way of saying that people who appear cold are really the warmest!
Quise mezclar todos los colores pero también darles un sentido por ejemplo, hice una fila de colores cálidos en algunas piedras mientras en otra fila puse colores fríos. En el final podrán ver que los colores fríos se sitúan a los lados mientras que los colores cálidos estan en el centro, justo como el corazón del hombre. Creo que es una forma de decir que las personas que aparentan frialdar realmente son las más cálidas!

When making the textures of the stones, it was where I found the use of paper, since since it has a porous surface, I used that condition so that the irregular relief of the stones would look better, making dark spots since all the stones were not smooth. To finish I made the stones in the upper part of the sheet, the water that circulates between the stones I made it with a light blue color, and in the lighter part where the sunlight is reflected either in the stones or in the water I used acrylic paint and a small brush for details. When I had the drawing ready, I took a piece of MDF wood that measures 20 x 20 centimeters and glued the drawing, I painted the edges black and thus I reached the destination of my trip.
AL hacer las texturas de las piedras fue donde le encontré provecho al papel, ya que al ser de superficie porosa usé esa condición para que el relieve irregular de las piedras quedara mejor, haciendo manchas oscuras ya que todas las piedras no eran lisas. Para finalizar hice las piedras de la parte superior de la hoja, el agua que circula entre las piedras la hice con color azul claro, y en la parte más clara donde se refleja la luz del sol ya sea en las piedras o en el agua usé pintura acrílica y un pincel pequeño para detalles. Al tener el dibujo listo tomé un pedazo de madera de MDF que mide 20 x 20 centímetros y pegué el dibujo, los bordes los pinté de color negro y así llegue al destino de mi viaje.
FINAL WORK
And so I have brought you to the end of this trip, I worked on this painting for about 3 days, since I had to do other tasks, but I was able to finish so I could share. I really liked the experience, because I let myself go with the color, and in the middle of the drawing I entered a huge abstraction that later I find it difficult to leave to return to the real world. Y así los he traído hasta el final de este viaje, trabajé en esta pintura alrededor de 3 días, ya que tenía que hacer otras labores, pero pude finalizar para poder compartir. Me gustó mucho la experiencia, porque me dejé ir con el color, y en medio del dibujo me adentro en una abstracción enorme que luego me cuesta salir para volver al mundo real.
