Hello hivers. The other day I found an old box of oil pastel colors, so I took a break from watercolors to practice a little with this technique, which I haven't drawn with for a while. To give my drawing a different look, I used brown construction cardboard, so I invite you to follow along step by step with this creative process 🖍️.

Tenía tiempo sin dibujar un retrato, los retratos son una de las cosas que más me gusta dibujar, y siento que tengo habilidades para ello, a diferencia de los paisajes, que de verdad no son mi fuerte 😬🙈 y me falta mucho para lograr dibujarlos al nivel que me gustaría 😕. Bueno, los materiales que utilicé fueron: cartulina de construcción marrón, lápiz, borrador, colores pasteles al óleo, lápices de colores, un pincel grueso y marcador punta fina negro. El primer paso, hacer el boceto.
It's been a while since I drew a portrait. Portraits are one of my favorite things to draw, and I feel like I have the skills to do so, unlike landscapes, which really aren't my strong suit 😬🙈 and I still have a long way to go to draw them at the level I'd like 😕. Well, the materials I used were: brown construction cardboard, pencil, eraser, oil pastels, colored pencils, a thick brush, and a black fine-tip marker. The first step was to sketch.
Si bien utilicé un lápiz para hacer parte del boceto, en este caso el rostro, el resto lo hice con un lápiz blanco. La protagonista de este dibujo es una hermosa mujer que está nadando en una laguna rodeada de selva tropical.
Although I used a pencil to do part of the sketch, in this case the face, I did the rest with a white pencil. The protagonist of this drawing is a beautiful woman swimming in a lagoon surrounded by tropical rainforest.
Después de definir la figura empecé a agregar luces y sombras, quise hacer algo diferente así que utilicé color crema y anaranjado.
After defining the figure I started adding lights and shadows, I wanted to do something different so I used cream and orange colors.
Le di color a los labios con un rojo intenso, y con la ayuda de un pincel grande y grueso empecé a difuminar los colores del rostro para unificarlos.
I colored the lips with a deep red, and with the help of a large and thick brush I began to blend the colors on the face to unify them.
Seguidamente definí las facciones del rostro y empecé a darle color al cuello, la espalda y el brazo.
Next I defined the facial features and began to add color to the neck, back, and arm.
Esta chica tiene unos grandes y expresivos ojos oscuros, los cuales pinté con lápiz marrón. Así mismo le dí vida al elemento más llamativo de este dibujo, la flor de cayena, para darle realismo lo hice usando tanto lápices de colores de diferentes tonalidades de rojo, color crema y blanco, así como el rojo de los colores pasteles al óleo.
This woman has large, expressive dark eyes, which I painted with a brown pencil. I also brought the most striking element of this drawing, the cayenne flower, to life. To give it realism, I used colored pencils in different shades of red, cream, and white, as well as the red of the oil pastels.
El collar hace juego con la flor de cayena así que también lo dibujé de rojo aunque un tono más claro, parecido al coral.
The necklace matches the cayenne flower so I also drew it in red, although a lighter shade, similar to coral.
Coloreé las cejas y el resto de lo que faltaba del collar, pequeñas piedras verdes que harán juego con la selva donde se encuentra la chica.
I colored the eyebrows and the rest of what was missing from the necklace, small green stones that will match the jungle where the woman is.
Esta chica tiene el cabello recogido en un elegante moño, esto para darle más sencillez y no opacar la belleza de la flor de cayena.
This woman has her hair tied back in an elegant bun, to make it simpler and not overshadow the beauty of the cayenne flower.
Por último, dibujé la laguna, la selva y agregué algunos detalles más como las pestañas con el marcador punta fina negro. También le hice un marco negro para que se viera mejor.
Finally, I drew the lagoon, the jungle, and added a few more details like the eyelashes with a black fine-point marker. I also added a black border to make it more visible.
Y este es el resultado final. ¿Sabían ustedes que la flor de cayena tiene muchas propiedades que ayudan a mantener un cabello hermoso y con aspecto saludable? Mezcla aceite de coco con flores trituradas de cayena y aplícalo en tu cabello si lo tienes seco, esto le aportará una gran hidratación. Si tu problema es la caspa, la caída de cabello y la calvicie, tritura hojas de cayena y agrégalas a tu champú habitual, esto fortalecerá tu cabello y cuero cabelludo. Si lo que quieres es darle brillo y luminosidad a tu cabellera y eliminar el frizz, mezcla gel de sábila (aloe) con flores y hojas trituradas de cayena y aplícalo como una mascarilla por unos veinte minutos.
And this is the final result. Did you know that cayenne flowers have many properties that help maintain beautiful, healthy-looking hair? Mix coconut oil with crushed cayenne flowers and apply it to your hair if it's dry, this will provide great hydration. If your problem is dandruff, hair loss, and baldness, crush cayenne leaves and add them to your regular shampoo, this will strengthen your hair and scalp. If you want to give your hair shine and brightness and eliminate frizz, mix aloe vera gel with crushed cayenne flowers and leaves and apply it as a mask for about 20 minutes.
