I never threw away the magazines although I did not use them last year because I had a plan. A plan that has been brewing this long. Waiting for a right time. For those who don't understand Finnish or Norwegian here's a little explanation.
The magazine is called Hjemmet which means home. To a Finn the logic what it actually looks and sounds like is pretty simple. Just don't pronounce the j and add one of the really typical Finnish language characters to the end; double consonant and the word ending vowel. Hemmetti. That's an actual Finnish word. And it means damn, dammit and darn.
So I'm doing a series of collages that are the cover images of a fictional magazine called Hemmetti. Darn. There are so many things in life that deserve a special darn mention.
War deserves a special darn mention. War industry, invaders, dictators who covet more power, land and worshipers. People who want to destroy other ways of life or religions they do not believe in. Killing people is glorified. Justified even. It's not murder if your country demands it.
But people who don't make the decisions are usually the ones giving their lives. Sure most of us do want to defend ourselves, our families, our land if attacked but what about the ones attacking? The ones going out there, taking what is not theirs, leaving their homes and invading a home that is already owned by someone else?
And in the end who wins? Companies that provide the means to kill people. Machines that slaughter people better, faster and more efficiently.
That means that there are people out there who get rich when world leaders decide to sacrifice their citizens and tell them to go to war instead of them going there themselves. "I want that land! Go get it for me! I want those oil wells, diamond mines, fields and forests. Kill the people there and conquer it! I'm annoyed by that leader of that neighboring country! Obey and go die for me!" And the war industry makes more tanks, fighter jets, machine guns, bombs and smiles while doing it.
Think about that.

I was about to post this to Collage community but there has not been any activity since December 2021 and that of course, is partly my fault too because I'm subscribed there but failed to post there more. I was pondering if I should publish this post there anyway because if one wants to wake the community up and make it active again, someone needs to be the first to post there. But I chickened and thought, why would anyone care if I post anything there so here goes, I hope Alien Art Hive is an okay place for this art because I sure am not putting this to On Chain Art because it's a community to "serious artists" and I'm not serious and besides, I'm not even a good artsy fartser. Or perhaps I am. Just that. An artsy fartser. Not a serious artist at all. Or any good.
