Lost in the ribbons...
Hello Freinds,
Sometimes I have downtime, and I use that time to do something other than computer things. Yesterday I had some rare downtime as well, so I opted to draw and paint something that had been on my mind for a while.
The story of this work is as such.
"In the early morning hours, the sun casts a pink and orange glow over the horizon. The sky is clear, and the ribbons of color stretch out for miles. Against this backdrop, a small figure is lost in the ribbons, their arms, and legs flailing as they try to keep their balance. It's a disorienting and dizzying experience but also strangely peaceful. The figure eventually gives up and allows themselves to be pulled under, disappearing into the ribbons."
Here is my process of making it.
1: With my trusty mechanical pencil at hand, I sketched out the idea in my notebook. the vision is someone tied up in ribbons and in the wash in the sea.
2: With that done, I then started to do uniformed inking across the image. I was doing this all in low light, so I was a bit su[raised with that it came out ok.
3: After this, it was time to remove the pencil lines and see what mess I had made.
4: I took an 8mm pen and darkened up more parts of the work. I do like pen work, but I was not 100% happy with the face. I think this was due to the low light.
Close-up is always a fun way to view art.
Perhaps it is the view that pens see?
Like that pen. Hahahah
Next, I took out the small watercolor kit I had and did some painting.
I don't do much watercolor painting, but I think it came out ok. :)
Here it is on a white background and cleaned up a bit with color correction.
The story of a work of art is almost as important as the art itself. The story can provide context and meaning to enhance the viewer's experience. A work of art can be inspired by a personal story, historical events, or a variety of other sources. The story can add depth and richness to the viewer's understanding of the work.
