Brency era una mascota que tuve de niño, una perra pastor alemán que nos acompañó a mis hermanos y a mí durante 14 años. Quería mucho a ese hermoso animal, era muy leal y fiel a nosotros. Recuerdo que sus ojitos inspiraban una sincera inocencia. Murió hace unos años.
Yo estaba a cargo de hacer los baños garrapaticidas que a Brency no le gustaban en absoluto; cuando veía que yo estaba buscando los implementos para esta necesaria labor, huía y se escondía. Tenía que amarrarla en un rincón. A veces cuando la estaba bañando con la medicina, me gruñía y mostraba los dientes, pero nunca me mordía (yo sabía que ella no lo iba a hacer).
Tuve una pesadilla la noche de un día en que le apliqué su indeseado baño. Soñé que ella estaba enferma de mal de rabia. Inspirándome en eso, hoy les presento "Mal de Rabia", el tercer dibujo que hago de la Serie Pesadillas.

Brency was a pet I had as a child, a female german shepherd dog that accompanied my brothers and me for 14 years. I loved that beautiful animal very much, it was very loyal and faithful to us. I remember that her little eyes inspire a sincere innocence. She died a few years ago.
I was in charge of doing the tick baths that Brency didn't like at all; when she saw that I was looking for the implements for this necessary work, she fled and hid. I had to tie her in a corner. Sometimes when I was bathing her with the medicine, she would growl at me and show her teeth, but she never bit me (I knew that she was not going to do it).
I had a nightmare the night of one day when I applied her unwanted bath. I dreamed that she was sick with rage. Inspired by that, today I present "Mal de Rabia", the third drawing that I do in the Nightmares Series.
No hace falta decir que fue una pesadilla horrible. La boca estaba llena de espuma y saliva infectada por el virus de la rabia, los dientes a la vista y predispuestos a morder. El pelaje parecía más oscuro y descuidado. Sus ojos se volvieron blancos, perdiendo la ternura de mi adorada mascota cuando me veía.
Cuando desperté fui a verla en seguida en la sala, donde siempre se echaba a dormir, sintiéndome aliviado cuando la vi con su carita que parecía sonreír y su rabo moviéndose de lado a lado.

Needless to say, it was a horrible nightmare. The mouth was full of foam and rabies virus-infected saliva, the teeth on display and predisposed for a bite. The fur looked darker and unkempt. Her eyes turned white, losing the tenderness of my beloved pet when she saw me.
When I woke up I went to see her right away in the living room, where she always went to sleep, feeling relieved when I saw her with her little face that seemed to smile and her tail moving from side to side.
I drew with Krita. In the following gif you can see the development of the drawing.
Empecé dibujando y coloreando la silueta del animal con los colores base del pelaje. La boca, los dientes, las encías y la nariz fueron dibujados en diferentes capas, las cuales fui uniendo y retocando hasta lograr toda la zona del hocico del perro. El efecto de la espuma en la saliva de la boca, lo obtuve con los pinceles para texturas de Krita.
En cuanto a los ojos, los hice en dos capas: una para el globo ocular y otra superior para los párpados. Esto permitió sombrear los ojos blancos y contrastarlos con los párpados.
Finalicé con más capas de pelaje en la parte superior, sombreado oscuro por todo el cuerpo, un fondo con luminiscencia roja y relámpagos para crear un ambiente de terror. El truco es sencillo y consiste en dibujar por capas, uniendo y retocando constantemente hasta llegar al resultado deseado.
Espero les haya gustado el dibujo de esta semana, muy oportuno por la temporada de Hallooween por cierto (hahaha). Hasta el próximo post amigos de Hive.

I started by drawing and coloring the silhouette of the animal with the base colors of the fur. The mouth, teeth, gums and nose were drawn in different layers, which I was joining and retouching until the entire area of the dog's muzzle was achieved. The effect of the foam in the saliva of the mouth, I got it with Krita's texture brushes.
As for the eyes, I made them in two layers: one for the eyeball and a top one for the eyelids. This allowed the white eyes to be shaded and contrasted with the lids.
I ended up with more layers of fur on top, dark shading all over the body, a background with red luminescence and lightning bolts to create an atmosphere of horror. The trick is simple and consists of drawing in layers, constantly joining and retouching until you reach the desired result.
