I've been posting serial fiction to Hive for a while now, but so far most of the associated NFTs have been on Polygon (books and bookmarks). I've always wanted to do a Hive NFT, and was clearly the place to do it!
So without further ado, here's the Episode One commemorative NFT art:

🎨 The art
This is a big mix of digital media! Some AI, some edited graphic elements from Canva Pro, some OG brushstrokes in GIMP.
👻 The backdrop photo depicts a swirling blue fog billowing out from the face of a grandfather clock, portraying the main thrust of Episode One's title: The Ghost in the Clock. This was generated via AI prompts with Midjourney.
🔵 The central circle art was a commissioned piece from illustrator Liz Mac—it is part of the original paperback and eBook cover of Episode One (those versions have been taken down in lieu of serial publishing the story here on Hive!). It shows the main character and narrator of the story, Alena Bisk, peering over her shoulder against the backdrop of a clock face with backward numbers—showcasing both the protagonist and antagonist together.
Other elements include:
- ⭕ repeating concentric circles of clock faces (layered worlds in the story)
- 💀 contrasting graphics of cutesy lil ghosts and mildly demonic imagery, attempting to capture the story's tone of "creepy yet charming"
- 🐝 the Hive logo, because this story now lives indelibly on chain :)
- 🔺 Red accents throughout, including the only set of clock hands and a special treatment of the second to last minute mark. I enjoy how the accents generally form an almost vertical line—this wasn't intentional from the outset but ended up as a happy coincidence.
📚 The story
- My roadmap post is probably the best place to get meta-information about what I'm doing with the HM on-chain fiction here on Hive (including ongoing token giveaways! 🎁)
- For a full index of the story parts, I have a post for that too.

⚙️ NFT utility?
As of today, the Hive NFTs are simply collectables and a way to support to story. But since NFTShowroom does allow for unlockable files to be uploaded into collections, I can easily see a future where I:
- Compile episode notes, "deleted scenes," or other textual goodies into these NFTs locked zone
- Hold special raffles or grant special access to HM NFT owners (e.g. I already reward folks who join the HM readlist with juicy token raffles from time to time, so this could evolve to be an extension of that!)
I won't commit to anything like the above, of course. It all depends on how far this experiment with on-chain fiction goes!

📓 Speaking of the readlist, I am going to ping them all in this post, as is tradition with Hunting Midnight related stuff. The following 'boilerplate' is found at the end of most of my story and contest posts:
