I titled this photo series "CHATARRA" -in Spanish- because I feel that word, with its strong sound and complex pronunciation, is more in keeping with the level of abstraction you'll find when you appreciate these photos I recently took in one of the old, dark sheds we have at my house. Besides, I think "CHATARRA" would spark quite a bit of curiosity and attract a larger audience if it were displayed on a hypothetical banner hanging at the entrance of a photo gallery in some city 😁... Heavens, I wish I could do something like that someday!

Titulé "CHATARRA" esta serie fotográfica, así en español, porque me parece que esa palabra de sonido fuerte y pronunciación compleja; está más acorde con el nivel de abstracción que encontrarán al apreciar estas fotos que hice recientemente en uno de los viejos y obscuros cobertizos que tenemos en mi casa. Además, creo que "CHATARRA" causaría bastante curiosidad y atraería más público al ser leído en un "hipotético pendón" colgado en la entrada de una sala de exposición de fotos de alguna ciudad 😁... ¡Cielos, ojalá alguna vez pudiera hacer algo así!...

By the way, our old, dark sheds are overflowing with all sorts of junk, scrap metal, and disused items, for the simple reason that, according to my mother, all the men who have lived in this house suffer from a "strange obsession with saving, storing, and collecting totally useless things" 😂😂😂 and by that she means my grandfather, my late father, myself, and my eldest son who, although he's lived abroad for about 10 years, also contributed quite a bit while he was living with us, with everything we have stored in this place... Oh dear, that's something that really cracks me up every time I think about it! 😂... And, truth be told, every now and then I select a few odds and ends and sell them to the people who work on the streets collecting and buying these things; But it's not very useful, because, in some inexplicable way, the freed-up space is filled again with new useless junk 😁... But all this is great for taking photos, certainly!

But please don't leave without seeing the black and white versions below!... 🙏

Por cierto, nuestros viejos y obscuros cobertizos están repletos de toda clase de cachivaches, chatarra, y cosas en desuso, por la simple razón de que, según asegura mi madre, todos los hombres que han vivido en esta casa sufrimos de una "extraña obsesión por guardar, almacenar y coleccionar cosas totalmente inútiles" 😂😂😂 y con eso de refiere a mi abuelo, a mi difunto padre, a mi mismo y a mi hijo mayor que, aunque vive fuera del país hace unos 10 años, también contribuyó bastante mientras estuvo vivendo con nosotros, con todo lo que tenemos almacenado en este lugar... ¡Oh cielos, en realidad eso es algo que me mata de risa cada vez que pienso en eso! 😂... Y, la verdad sea dicha; de vez en cuando selecciono unos cuantos cachivaches y la vendo a las personas que trabajan en las calles colectando y comprando estas cosas; pero sirve de muy poco, porque, de alguna manera inexplicable, el espacio liberado vuelve a llenarse con nuevos trastes inútiles 😁... ¡Pero todo esto es muy bueno para hacer fotos, ciertamente!...

¡Pero no se vayan sin ver las versiones en blanco y negro a continuación por favor!... 🙏

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7}
