I came across this pattern on Ravelry, it's called the Girly Knits Bra Top by a designer called Lauren Riker. I don't usually use patterns but I thought it was very cute and a quicker kind of project which had a few techniques I had never used so I thought it would be a fun learning opportunity.
In thee pattern she offers several modifications to make it longer/shorter, more/less coverage etc. I stayed pretty true to my the pattern for my size but I did add a few extra rows of stockinette (5) after the ribbing as I had seen in some of the projects it was riding up a bit.
I also changed the straps from an i-cord to a garter stitch which is 6 wide.
I'm considering adding length to it on the bottom to make it into a dress I can wear over a tank though I have some other projects in the mix ATM so it might not be soon. I also think it could be fun in a lighter yarn (maybe cotton/linen/bamboo) to make it more summery or even a yarn like silk to make some comfy bralettes.
It's knitted on smaller needles than I am used to working with and I found the ribbing to be a bit of a slog, I knit ribbing very slow, but after that was done the rest was a breeze.
I mentioned it had some new techniques so I used her video tutorial each time I came to a new one, I can now do M1L, M1R, SSK and SSP :)
