Maybe an illustration for a children’s book that hasn’t been written. It really was because I was looking at Frank Franzetta’s art and wanted to do something with a difusse imprimatura (which is the coloured layer in the bottom in a middle tone on which you paint the actual painting). Used correctly you can do things much faster using all the random structure of the imprimitura.
