It's that time of the week again where I get to share a new painting for the splinterlands art contest. I was supposed to submit this yesterday but real life stuff took too much of my time. The goal is to beat the deadline and I'm glad I could make it. Happy weekend lovely hive community, I hope you have a wonderful one.
PROCESS
I was excited for this one because working with warm tones can be interesting, I love the glow they produce. I started with a quick sketch to serve as a guide as I work, I then began to paint flat colours for her skin, hair and clothes. I chose a darker skin tone because warm colours look amazing on it. The original character has a lot going on but since I decided to paint a more minimal upclose portrait, I picked out some cool things I love there and added them to my work. I painted her dress and facial features, also chose a darker blue colour for her lips, I barely use that colour for lips but I love it.
I started rendering her skin, this process was interesting and I focused more on her neck and shoulder area. I love painting jewellery but I noticed I don't paint earrings a lot, hehe but I did that here and it's so cool. I added details to the jewelleries as I painted to save time. I began to add more details to her hair, I used multiple shades of orange and yellow till it looked good, then I moved to her dress, I mimicked the folds on the skirt of original character and painted the big button too.
I painted a simple background and added little fire balls glowing around her. I added more strands on her lashes, added a new layer and painted some glow in just a few areas.
That's all for now, I'll see you in another post...
