Slumber sequences load
Alpha to delta in a loop.
In the eye, the rapid shadows-
The phantom shapes that move
Elusive unseen in the code.
Shimmering lattices all things perceive,
Insubstantial scenes and faces
From long ago then yesterday,
That rouses the turbid senses
That floats on the lucid sea.
It is forever
Standing still in circadian rhythms
Roused in the morning sun,
In the cognitive foam of the loom
To gaze upon the solid world anew
To weave threads of an ancient cocoon.
The poem and images in this post were inspired by the theme of a recent story that I wrote called Paradoxical. The tale revolves around a technology called Dreamcatcher, which allows users to control and share their dreams with others. I created several sets of images depicting this technology in different scenarios. I did not end up using any of the images in this set. The illustrations aim to depict users sharing cybernetic dreams in a laboratory. It is perhaps inevitable that if we ever get to this point technologically, we'll use it for entertainment and intimacy.
What do you think? Does the future look exciting to you?
