Hello everyone! It has been a while since I last posted an illustration here, but as I do from time to time, I’m back with a brand-new piece.
Recently, I’ve been spending my free time practicing on a budget-friendly pen tablet. Through consistent practice, I’ve managed to improve my digital technique and streamline my workflow. As a result of this growth, I want to share my latest illustration inspired by Digital Circus, a series that really caught my eye.
¡Hola a todos! Tenía un buen tiempo sin poder compartir una ilustración por aquí, pero como cada cierto tiempo, hoy les traigo una pieza nueva.
Últimamente, he dedicado mis ratos libres a practicar con una tableta gráfica económica. Gracias a esta constancia, he logrado evolucionar en mi técnica y optimizar mis tiempos de trabajo. Como resultado de este proceso, quiero mostrarles mi más reciente ilustración de Digital Circus, una serie que captó poderosamente mi atención.

| I decided to draw Pomni, though I must admit that I didn't have high expectations at first; I saw it as just another practice sketch. However, as I progressed, I began taking it more seriously, adding more depth and detail. | Decidí retratar a Pomni, aunque debo admitir que al inicio no tenía grandes expectativas; lo veía simplemente como un ejercicio de práctica. Sin embargo, conforme avanzaba, decidí tomármelo más en serio y elevar el nivel de detalle. |
| The project started quite simply as a standard portrait of a girl, but I gradually introduced elements that aligned with the character's identity. I began with a clean but simple lineart, so I challenged myself to make the coloring stand out. | El concepto comenzó de forma sencilla: el retrato de una chica común. Poco a poco, fui integrando elementos característicos del personaje. Partí de un lineart simple, pero me propuse compensar esa sencillez con un coloreado minucioso. |
🖌️ Technical Execution / Ejecución Técnica
Skin & Palette: I chose a pale, rosy skin tone and emphasized the lips and makeup. Using various references, I worked on the red and blue palette for the outfit; this was a bit tricky since I handled them in separate layers, but the final result was well worth the effort.
Piel y Paleta: Apliqué una base de piel en tonos rosados y pálidos, resaltando los labios y el maquillaje. Utilizando diversas referencias, logré equilibrar la paleta de rojos y azules de la vestimenta, lo cual fue un reto técnico al trabajar cada sección en capas separadas.
The "Hair Chaos" / El caos del cabello:
To be honest, I have a love-hate relationship with drawing hair. It is an exhausting and complex process that feels chaotic at the start, but eventually, it gains the right shape and texture. In contrast, creating the background was much smoother, drawing inspiration directly from the show’s episodes.
Sinceramente tengo una relación de amor-odio con el pelo; realizarlo es un proceso exhaustivo y complejo que suele generarme caos al principio, aunque al final logra tomar la forma y el detalle que busco. Por otro lado, el fondo fue más fluido, inspirándome directamente en la estética de los episodios de la serie.

After adding the final highlight and shadow layers, the piece achieved a polished look that I truly enjoy. I hope you like this version of Pomni!
Finalmente, tras aplicar las capas de luces y sombras, logré un acabado del cual me siento muy satisfecho. ¡Espero que les guste esta versión de Pomni!
