Trip - Ink Drawing, 21x16 cm, 2022
When I first thought about the prompt - trip, the thing that came to mind was a psychedelic trip. However, after some consideration, I did not think it would be appropriate because of my lack of experience with it. I am glad I did not pick the first thing that came to mind because the next one was so me!
I am a huge sucker for sci-fi and cyberpunk themes. I grew up with that stuff. One of my first memories involving those themes was playing Master of Orion as a kid. I was obsessed! My mind was blown by space travel, aliens, robots, ships, and the mysteries of the endless Universe. And to this day is. So, I am happy that my tiny scout ship is taking a trip through the wormhole instead!
What is waiting on the other side? New friends in uncharted territory? New worlds? Will it discover some sort of anomaly? We can only wonder.
My focus always goes to the main subject in my drawings/paintings first. As you can tell from the process photos above, in this case, it was the scout. Perhaps, it is some sort of time and the energy-saving mechanism that makes me do that. In case I fuck up and need to start over. I only proceed further if I feel like I did right by it. With this one, it happens that I started over twice. One of those days, but in the end, it worked out better than I expected.
And then, of course, it was time to swirl in the fun patterns of the wormhole and the starry space at the end of it. I figured that the dots would make the wormhole even more interesting to look at, so I went for that, with black ones in the darker parts and white in the lighter ones.
So far, I have Gargoyle, Bat, Bouquet, and Trip.
