Hey Hivers!
I missed you... I've been busy with various things lately, some interesting, some dull, some worth telling, others not.
One of the things that have happened and it's quite exciting, is that my mother and sculptor () has taken on a project of turning some of her clay works into valuable metal art works and in the process, she found a sponsor who offered to organize an exhibition with her works in a famous gallery. Along with her, the sponsor asked me to exhibit my paintings as well and help him produce a collaboration between mother and daughter.
Since our mediums are quite different, it took some thought on how such a collaboration could look like. Both and I are quite resilient to suggestions, if you know what I mean.
Until I found a few broken sculptures of hers, in a bucket, waiting to be thrown out.
I asked her if she wanted them, she said NO, it's just trash.
You know what they say; one man's trash is someone else's treasure. So I picked a very nice broken clay leg, rubbed it, painted it, turned it into almost wood like material, combined it with a rock, which is a natural material and created a whole new artwork.
The idea was to make this leg become a part of a natural system but with an alien materiality, stepping out from the dark into our world.
So this is basically upcycling only in art.
Below you'll find some photos from the process.
