Hacienda La Trinidad Parque Cultural y Espacio Monitor se complacen en presentar la exposición ELIAS CRESPIN: CONTINUUM, una gran oportunidad para apreciar los recorridos y la maestría de un creador que despunta en el arte actual por el reconocimiento que ha obtenido a nivel internacional.

Venezuelan artist Elías Crespín became this Friday the first Latin American artist to have a permanent exhibition at the Louvre Museum with his kinetic artwork "L'onde du midi" ("The Noon Wave"), a "dance in suspension" built using a computer program designed by the artist himself. Crespín (1965), who studied computer science in Caracas, applies his programming knowledge to visual arts, giving shape to moving sculptures that have been exhibited in New York, Buenos Aires, Brussels, Spain, and Korea. In 2018, his creation of a moving hexagon in one of the halls of the Parisian Grand Palais—where he participated in the exhibition "Artists and Robots"—caught the attention of the Louvre's management, which invited him to create a piece for the museum.

Where art and technology converge stands Venezuelan artist Elías Crespín, who inaugurated this Wednesday in Caracas the exhibition 'CONTINUUM', in which various geometric elements suspended in the air dance in sync with a system programmed by the electro-kinetic artist. At Hacienda La Trinidad, located in the capital of a turbulent country where weeks seem like days and days like hours, time regains its original rhythm. Steel, aluminum, and plexiglass components move according to software—the choreographer behind these performances. “The work itself is time. There is a very close and inseparable relationship between movement and time,” said Crespín.
My works are a kind of silent symphony that you listen to with your eyes,” says Crespín, exhibiting for the “first time” in more than 20 years in his native Venezuela after gaining international recognition—including having a piece displayed at the Louvre. A dozen metallic mobiles in a state of weightlessness are displayed in an old tobacco plantation house in Caracas, now converted into an exhibition space. These are “electro-kinetic sculptures,” he explains. Returning to exhibit in Venezuela is “emotional,” he affirms. “It’s a great satisfaction, an important recognition showing that it was worth doing what I did. I feel deeply fulfilled by this confirmation that what I’m doing has value in Venezuela,” he told AFP.

El venezolano Elías Crespín se convirtió este viernes en el primer artista latinoamericano que expone de forma permanente en el Museo del Louvre con la obra cinética "L'onde du midi" ("La onda del mediodía"), una "danza en suspensión" construida con un programa informático concebido por el propio creador. Crespín (1965), formado en Caracas como informático, aplica su conocimiento en programación a las artes plástico para dar formas a unas esculturas en movimiento que han sido expuestas en Nueva York, Buenos Aires, Bruselas, España o Corea. En 2018, su creación de un hexágono en movimiento en una de las salas del también parisino Grand Palais, donde participaba en la exposición "Artistas y robots", llamó la atención de la dirección del Louvre que lo invitó a concebir una obra para él.
Caracas, 28 may (EFE).- Donde se fusionan el arte y la tecnología está el venezolano Elías Crespín, quien inauguró este miércoles en Caracas la exposición 'CONTINUUM', en la que pone a bailar a diversos elementos geométricos suspendidos en el aire y conectados a un sistema que, según explicó a EFE el artista electrocinético, responde a una programación informática. En la Hacienda La Trinidad, ubicada en la capital de un convulsionado país donde semanas parecen días y estos horas, el tiempo vuelve a transcurrir a su ritmo original, a cuyo compás se mueven elementos de materiales como acero, aluminio y plexiglás en un total de nueve obras, que siguen los pasos fijados por la informática, la coreógrafa de estas interpretaciones. "La obra es el tiempo mismo. Hay una relación muy cercana entre movimiento y tiempo, e indisoluble", expresó Crespín.
“Mis obras son una especie de sinfonía silenciosa que se escucha con los ojos”, considera Elias Crespin, quien expone por “primera vez” en más de 20 años en su natal Venezuela después de haber alcanzado el reconocimiento internacional, incluido un trabajo que se exhibe en el Louvre. Una decena de móviles metálicos en estado de ingravidez son exhibidos en una antigua hacienda tabacalera en Caracas, convertida en espacio de exposiciones. Son “esculturas electrocinéticas”, apunta. Es “emotivo” el hecho de volver a exponer en Venezuela, asegura. “Es una gran satisfacción, es un reconocimiento importante que dice que valió la pena haber hecho lo que hice. Me siento muy satisfecho con esta confirmación de que valió la pena hacer lo que estoy haciendo en Venezuela”, dijo a la AFP.
