I finally completed my most recent 3 Wallets, pouring in tremendous amounts of love, patience & attention to detail into them.
The last 7 Wallets I have made, I believe are some of the most unique, beautiful that currently exist in the world. It almost breaks my heart thinking I will be selling them, each & every one of them I struggled with myself wanting to keep it for me.
They are a true labor of love, giving my art all the intensity of my own authenticity in a time where I am going all-in with my creative endeavours, determined to be rewarded for the value I know that I put in every single piece.
For 10 years I have been crafting Leather, I was obsessed with durability in the beginning, finding out that almost all Leather is stitched by machine nowadays, whether cheap mass-productions or high-end luxury brands, was devastating to me, especially when I understood the difference between the stitch by the machine & that done by hand.
You see for those of you that were ignorant as I was back then, leather is a bitch to stitch, a leather sewing machine is just more powerful than a regular textile sewing machine, it's flaw lies in the fact, that the way it stitches, if you have your thread come undone at any location of your sown-piece, the entire length of thread will come undone with relative ease.
On the other hand, stitching by hand, you use 2 needles simultaneously and each & every stitch is basically locked in place by a little knot, this little knot makes a world of difference, because now if a part of the thread breaks due to wear & friction, the rest of the thread will not come undone, whether it is leather clothing, wallet, whatever, you can easily get away with continuing to use it without having even to worry too much about repairing it immediately.
Each one of these creations is entirely made by hand, painstakingly glued, then each stitching hole poked individually prior to actually stitching in, then finally stitched using the saddle-stitch method.
The Edges are carefully layered with professional grade edge-paint, this protects the integrity of the edges where several layers of leather meet, with use they will eventually begin to fray apart slightly, although it will not affect the usability of the items, it might not look very pleasing.
The recent ones are also painted by hand using Professional Leather Paint & carefully sealed with top-coat to assure that even with daily wear the colors & art will remain vibrant & maintain integrity for years & years to come.
I exclusively use Heavy-Duty Nylon thread, which is very hard to find since it is mostly used on a industrial scale for heavy-duty outdoor equipment, car seatbelts, airbags, parachutes, but from all materials offers the longest lasting option. It is unbelievably strong, it is barely impossible to just tear it by pulling it apart with your bear hands & also very resistant to friction & abrasion, which is ideal for things like a wallet which sees a lot of that over its lifetime.
So I leave you with my visual gallery of the latest 3 "Genies in a Wallet"
