When you don't care about sales or criticism, when you're drawing out of sheer entertainment, you can be completely free... This is my favorite circumstance in which to create. Let it flow---let it tumble out... (Paper is cheap, especially if you use recycled trash!)
SOMETIMES, drawings made in the heat of this FREEDOM FRENZY will accidentally hit on something magical, unexpected, exciting.... And sometimes they end up like these gaffs below!!! Ha!
The top one isn't too bad... I kinda like the colors and the slightly evil smile on the central critter, but it also doesn't quite feel finished. That's okay. I'll try to learn from the process, and maybe my next scribble will be better (or much, much worse, which is also awesome.)
The bottom two pieces, though.... I'm just not feeling them. The cracked egg guy is grotesque, but not in a particularly interesting way, and the red eyed bunny is alright, but I've made dozens of images in this style with more entertaining facial expressions.
I want to be clear that I'm not bothered sharing these less than great drawings. They were fun to make. They each have a line or two that I like, and that's good enough! Most people probably think in terms of the OVERALL, completed work, but I'm from the Fragmented School that finds beauty and enjoymemt in constructing self-consciously fictitious frames around arbitrary MOMENTS or INSTANCES of wonder---and calling them sublime. A bad painting with a few cool strokes can be considered a masterpiece with the proper focus and concentration... (Here's yer salt. Take a few grains...)
Moral to the story: draw, paint, sing, dance, recite, and write---and FUCK the haters. Live that life!
