When the world was very young, it snuck out at night and bought cheap wine with a fake I.D. Later, it threw up in the closet. It's mom was NOT happy... How have YOU been???
Here's some silliness from today:
[Notice in the image above that I ORIGINALLY started that paper in May of 2025, but I must have gotten busy and then set the notepad aside... To me, this is interesting...]
Ready for the ART STUFF???

1 Jan. 2026
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
We begin the NEW YEAR realizing, of course, that every MOMENT is a new beginning, and that the starting point of January 1st is arbitrary and historically suspect!!! STILL, I'm ready for some BEGINNING!!!
This season's THEME: MANIFESTATIONS... (It means many things...)
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
This year:
---READ MORE COMICS. Like, PAPER comics. I'm going to try to read at least (MINIMUM) three paper comic issues per weekend. I could write about them, if I want, but I don't want to get stuck in the "CONTENT CREATION" trap, again. The point is to enjoy the experience!!!
---MAKE MORE ART! I already draw and write every day, and a huge portion of my time is spent working with a not-quite-two-year-old, helping HIM learn how to express himself, and I'm positive that this is a worthwhile effort. AND YET, I know that I could spend more time working on my PERSONAL artz. ("MERZ" is my inspiration. Look it up if that seems like a nonsense word...) This will require me to NOT spend so much time playing horrible phone games and chasing micro-payments in scam apps full of adverts and other time-suck content. I wanna be ME, and to be me, I need to MAKE MORE STUFF!!!! Particularly, I need to finish another batch of mini-zines to drop at the coffee shop and bookshop circuit on Commerce Ave., in Longview. I also NEED to get my goddam desk cleaned off and prepped for AUDIO / VIDEO / and ARTZ production. (MAINLY, I need to get my music making gear in a more accessible situation, and I also need to get my dang LIGHT were I can use it for reading and photographing ARTZ purposes...
---ENJOY MORE MUSIC!! This includes listening, sharing, and more listening. I'm already swimming in tunes, but I need to find smoother means/methods of accessing and playing THE MUSIQUES!!!
---Continue the cc0 / Creative Commons lifestyle. I'm one of those weirdos who thinks MAKING STUFF is more important that making MONEY from making stuff. I almost always go with a "PUBLIC DOMAIN" publication style, meaning anyone who wants to take my creations and add to them, copy them, reinterpret them, or subvert them is free to do so as they wish! (Do what thou wilt!) Once a work of ART (OR LITERATURE) is created and sent out into the world, it take on a life of its own anyway, but I hope by EXPLICITLY stating that my THINGZ are free for peeps to use in their own works, I'll be inspiring (or ALLOWING, if that's necessary) peoples to MAKE STUFF of THEIR OWN... Push for culture, people.
---I NEED to back-up my devices!!! Electronic media are fragile! I need to do a serious, full scale back-up of my PHONE (and then delete all the images and videos off of it); my music computer (which is very old and slow and could explode at any moment... Definitely need to find a new means of DOING music stuff before the machine dies); and my NEW laptop (which is already starting to be filled by ARTZ... Why do I make so much STUFF??? Because I MUST!!!)
---Last, (for now - thingz are always in motion), I want to make more TIME BASED WORKS. (I.e.: video and audio and games...) I love flat, static, paper works (drawings and zines and written works), but there is something EXTREMELY ENGAGING about video and audio works. They are more DIFFICULT for me to make, since I'm very FLAT and STATIC, as a personality type, but that can also lead to deeper satisfaction when something difficult comes off as successful. (I'm cool with failing. Each attempt is practice, and each failure CAN BE SEEN as a badge of honor, if another attempt occurs after the crash! GET BACK UP AGAIN!)
So...that's the personal plan for my artistic efforts in the near future. I have some PERSONAL goals / plans, as well, but those are none of your business, and I'll kindly ask you to keep your curiosity to yourself! Got me?? Great!
Now, go make something!!! (It's good for you!)

"Heebees (Or Perhaps Jeebees)" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
[Mixed media: felt pen, brush pen, gel pen, crayon, colored pencil, paint pen...etc., on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and color manipulation.] One of my final creative efforts of 2025. From here until ETERNITY, I'm still makin' stuff... Yo! Yo!

Many artz and grandkid photos and stolen memes, you follow me???

As of 4:00 P.M., I have 158 pieces of art finished in 2025 that I still need to share... I think, before I get to those bits, I need to do some backing-up of the electronics (phone, old music computer, new laptop...) This will take TIME and energy, but it will help protect the DATA for a bit MORE of TIME... (Plus, I need to make the bed...)

Hell, you might not even like some of THESE songs, as I honestly LOVE some really bad music. However, with a gigantic SLUSH-PILE of noise to listen to in the world, maybe my OBSESSIVE COLLECTING will provide you with something interesting... And at least SOMETHING you've never heard of... I love that kind of stuff!
P.S. - If you have something that you think I might enjoy, absolutely do not hesitate to throw that INFO my way!!! I'm thrilled to find new things!!!

[Digital drawing created with a no-longer-supported, free sketch app on my phone. (My phone is about seven years old, and it still works. Just take care of your stuff and it will last a long time!)] I drew this sketch a year ago on my phone. Figured this was about the right time to share it! Ha!
How have you been? Haven't talked in a while, have we... That's okay. The world is still spinning (or the Matrix is still running), and that's fine.... I cleaned off my DRAWING TABLE today (for the first time in more than a year, I think.) That's good! I think I'm gonna USE that platform to make more stuff... (There's a light attached to it, and my eyes are old, so I need the extra illumination...) And that's what this drawing is all about!

"Deep in the Subconscious" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
[Felt pen on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and color.] The massive pressures and potentially poisonous atmosphere in the subconscious depths has produced some strange, unearthly beasts. They do tend to bite, so it's best to keep fingers, toes, noses, and other appendages clear!

This has been a WORKING WITH THE GRANDSON type of week. This is physically and mentally challenging, primarily because he is not-quite-two-years-old, yet. We are working on language acquisition, hand-eye coordination, and frustration control. Because I'm ME, there is a LOT of ART CREATION in the mix... I enjoy most of the experience. (Changing diapers is still changing diapers, of course.) Meanwhile, I have been TIRED when I got home and have not had the energy to SHARE stuff. Sorry! I'll work on FORCING MYSELF to do this more frequently...

"Deep Dark Memory Chunks" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
[Felt pen, paint pen, crayon, colored pencil, and paper collage on textured paper with digital embellishments and color tweaking...] Twitching fingers, nervous energy, and nebulous, floating, psychological spaces... That's what weekends are all about!!!

"Spearheads" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
[Felt pen, gel pen, paint pen, brush pen, metallic marker, and colored pencil on paper with digital embellishments and color.] How strange is it that one of the first tools created by human tribes---around the world---is a jagged piece of rock for killing... Murder was the case that they gave us (as a species), I guess...

"Riot Weather" by RSRW & RFY (Holy Fool)
[Digital drawing created with a no-longer-supported, free app on my phone.] Riot is almost two years old... Almost. In the last month or so, he's become a fan of DIGITAL DRAWING, using his mom's iPad or his dad's iPad or my phone... This is one of the DOZENS of creations that we've conjured on electronic machines. I'm amazed at how much he already understands things like scrolling and "button" pressing... How can a kid know how to SCROLL before they can for a complete sentence or READ what they're scrolling thru??? Bizarre... (I like the image, though!)

"Score (Collab)" by RSRW & RFY (Holy Fool)
[Felt pen, gel pen, brush pen, crayon, and sticker collage on notebook page with digital embellishments and color manipulation.] Another CLASSIC collab with my grandson, Riot. I love the chaos and energy that his art style brings to the page! I try to put some funny faces in there, just to say I contributed, but really, this piece is primarily by him!!
