I've typed and erased a whole bunch of words for this intro... I should know by now that people only skim the intro, and they skip right on to the pictures... Let's get right to it!!!

"Infinite Abyss (For TEZTRASH)" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
[Felt pen, crayon, and colored pencil on reclaimed cardboard hunk with digital embellishments and color.] Here's some OLD SCHOOL #trashart, as in art created on literal trash!!! This demon creature was drawn on a chunk of recycled food container (with some digital tweaking!) I'm making 101 editions of this piece and letting them go for the #teztrash event price of only 0.13 tezos each! The unclaimed editions with be SACRIFICED to the FIRE GODS on the day after Xmas, 2022!!! ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
This is piece ONE of THREE that I'm releasing for TEZTRASH!!!!
https://objkt.com/asset/KT1ABGYuE84UQNDJdWtMEhiBi6yhsfTQ7W56/968
[I only need to tokenize 10 more works on Objkt.com to reach 1,000 in 2022 alone!!! Not too shabby, right?]

"Tormented Totem" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
[Mixed media collage, moshed and bleached in a low effort way, then placed in a shrine for ritual purposes.] What's trashier than a low effort PhotoMosh piece? Not much. So here's my 2nd #teztrash work for this event! It will also be released in an edition of 101 with a sticker price of 0.13 tezos, and the unclaimed editions will be BURNED on Dec. 26th, 2022!!! (There is a high probability that only 2 or 3 editions of this work will be claimed, so it's likely to end up as MORE RARE than it seems right now!!!) ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

[Holy Zamboni! Only 9 more works to hit 1,000!!!]

"Trash Culture is Good Culture" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
[Digital drawing and digital letters over found image (zoomed in to the point that it's unrecognizable) with digital embellishments and drawing.] Here's the third #trashart piece in my #teztrash trilogy! This time, I did a low effort meme over a distorted, found image, with a terrible little doodle added to make it "original." There is a chance that this piece might be social critique or (perhaps) even satire. I'll let you folks decide... 101 editions being minted and released for only 0.13 tezos each! Unclaimed copies will be tossed into the fires of the HELL on Dec. 26th, 2022!!! ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

[Posted to typed.art]:
"DAY 4
I wasn't super excited to type this today, but I'm not the kind of "ARTIST" who gives up on a project in less than a week. As I mentioned in the DAY 3 post, the point of doing this is to DO IT. Harlan Ellison said numerous times that, in order to write, you have to write. He tried to demystify the process whereas some Romantic minded folks liked to claim that ART just comes to GENIUSES when the MUSES are in a good mood. Ellison disagreed. He said writing is WORK. You sit down and you write...
I'm sitting down as I type this.
Visual art (for me - not for everybody) is simple, primarily because I'm a BAD ARTIST, but also because I like the slap-dash / primitivist / non-skilled variety of art. Words, however, are trickier to work with. You need IDEAS which you translate into SOUNDS in your head, then make those sounds into PHONEMES (these are words and other symbols) that can be transcribed (usually either typed or written by hand.) Then there are processes like EDITING for content and syntax, as well as for SOUND. (I'm a "sound" writer. My marks, whether hand-carved or typed, are meant to be made into SONIC EVENTS in the reader's brain. I often write the wrong words, syntactically speaking, but the WRITE word, in a sonic sense. GAMES THAT I LIKE TO PLAY.)
I used to write stories, and then I turned those stories into poems, and then the poems because word games and CONCRETE poems, and then they ended up online in BLOGS and social media sites. Later...MUCH MUCH later...came blockchain junk, and I turned to these PHENOMENA in order to move my games into a new arena. Is any of this different from when I used to draw a picture of a ghost when I was four, wrote the word "BLUD" above the ghost's head (I spelled "blood" incorrectly), cut the ghost and the word out of the paper and then TAPED the ART/WORD object to a wall or the inside of a drawer (I thought someone would open the drawer and see the ghost and get scared) or to the top of a climbing tree (again, I thought someone might climb the tree, see the ghost or monster stuck to a branch, and get scared...) THIS IS THE SAME GAME - only with less tape needed...
I even remember being six and thinking, for some reason, that if I drew a monster on a piece of paper and then placed the drawing next to a lamp or a lit bulb for a significant length of time (the "light" and/or "heat" being magickal) that the creature I had drawn MIGHT come to life... Sadly, this never happened, but to be fair, we never used very powerful lighting in the places where I resided as a kid... (Not sure how poetry / word art fits here... Just another game I used to play...)
Did I write enough nonsense for this post??? Considering I had nothing planned when I started, I'm happy with what came out! Maybe Mr. Ellison was right! If you want to WRITE - just write!!!
---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)"

I'm a firm believer in RE-reading books. Got this practice from Harold Bloom, who says that in order to really KNOW a text, you should practically be able to memorize it! My memory won't allow that (it's bad), so I just revisit books that I think are interesting with some regularity. (This also has a bit to do with being POOR. If I've already paid for a book and OWN IT, I can read it as many times as I want to!!!) If it's not clear from the list above, I like horror / supernatural types of tales. This is thanks to my parents, who got me hooked on TWILIGHT ZONE and OUTER LIMITS when I was only three... (Not a joke. Actually true.)
It may also seem like I read a LOT, and that's because I do. I'm a SLOOOOOOOW reader, but I'm also not a very good sleeper. Therefore, I do a ton of reading before bed... Hours each night. I love reading, but since I'm a WRITER, it's essential to see how other folks USE WORDS and SCULPT THOUGHTS in order to keep my own skills sharp...
Like a knife!

"Cardboard Android" by Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)
[Liner pen and crayon on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and color.] Thanks to budget concerns, the modern robot or android is usually made of cardboard. It's great (cuz they're light), as long as it's not raining... ---Richard F. Yates (Holy Fool)

"DAY 5
It's almost criminal, but I'm exhausted at 7:PM on a Thursday night... Following the tradition of the season, I went to a shopping center today. (It was terrible. PEOPLE...all around me... Terrifying.) Unfortunately, I only completed two-thirds of my holiday shopping, which means I'm going to have to visit a NEW horrible place tomorrow! (OH NO!!!)
Sitting at the dining table this evening (before the ass-cat goosed my butt from behind my chair and I cussed and spilled my cup of soda), I realized that the POINT of all of this - living and working and saving and blah, blah, blah - is just to feed my ART habit! (I mean, my family is pretty neat too, but they can fend for themselves! They're WAY more capable than I am!) I need to have a place to sleep, a Mariah to keep me moving, some food, (my PILLS, cuz I DO want to live and not explode), and that's about it... And I need to be able to MAKE STUFF. If I can do that, I am successful! The arts and the words and the making and the sharing.... That's the shit!!! I'm doing it. You're doing it, too! WE ARE doing it! HOORAY!!!
Enjoy what you have, you summinabitches... I'm not trying to be all Pollyanna, but I seriously forget, sometimes, how LUCKY I am to be alive and creating RIGHT NOW...
(This is a shorter typed.art piece today, but [as I mentioned above] I'm tired. I know... I'll give you folks a POEM! This is one of my patented "LOW-KU" works [a lowbrow haiku!])
