Helo Dear Aliens, Helo Hive! 👽
I hasten to share with you my new musical composition, this is a light and airy Liquidfunk Drum & Bass track, it is perfect for traveling or relaxing, meet Morning Star. Today I will tell you how my new musical composition came into being, how it was created, let's talk about the technical part and just dream. Let's go. ⭐️

About Track:
Finally, a new piano fell into my hands - Pianoteq 6, in the previous work that I published on Hive, you could hear one of the settings of this scribble, there were chords from the same piano. I got so carried away with learning my new virtual piano that I decided to make a beautiful melody, set everything up so that it would sound like a real piano. I delved into this topic, I spent about two hours of work on just one melody, but it was worth it. See how the melody I created looks like in the project.
Piano Melody:
I made the melody iridescent, each pressing of the piano keys was worked out with its own strength and volume, I also made a panorama for each note, since a person is not a robot and cannot press the piano keys with one force, I decided to make the same in my composition idea, it immediately became noticeable how the melody came to life, became more natural and atmospheric. Every 18 measures it changes throughout the composition, its chronology of development is perceptible by the listener's ear. From the processing I took the delay and the shimmer, I always try to work painstakingly with the processing of the instruments so that the mixing of the whole composition sounds harmonious, but we will talk about processing and equalization later.
I would also like to show you what my project looks like directly in the sequencer itself, its structure turned out to be quite diverse, because throughout the entire work on the composition I worked out many variations in the development of my musical composition, introduced different ideas and developed new ones. Here is what the project looks like.
Project:
I love it when the workspace is in order, although it is not always possible to do this at the initial stage or in the process of creating music, I mainly do this when the work is ready, I mean the coloring and signed names of each channel both in the session window and on the mixer.
Next, we will talk about the very main feature of the very style of this musical composition - this is bass. Bass is an integral part of any drum and bass genre, in this track I have three bass tracks at once. I took - Reese bass he plays at the beginning of the track and almost the entire structure of it, naturally it changes over time, I made it for the depth and width of the sound. The second bass is a rolling bass, I made it in order to create a more dynamic structure of the track to give it rhythm. Since he goes jogging and seems to adjust my rhythmic pattern. The tempo of the project is 85 beats per minute (bpm), usually Drum and Bass are written at 170-175 bpm, but I took half the tempo for a reason, it gave me the opportunity to work with the melody of my musical composition in more detail. And there is also a third bass in the track - this is a sub bass, it is processed by the sidechain in order to give the track the effect of flight, the track has become more plastic and vibe. Next, I’ll talk about the drops and some of the effects of the track.
Drops and effects in a composition are very important, it's like a buffer between parts, how the whole composition develops depends on them, I made a lot of automation knobs for bass, for rhythmic pattern, for effects. I also panned almost every single effect when the sound spills from the right to the left speaker or vice versa. For me, little things like the panorama play a special role in creating music, they can always diversify my music, give it more space, although some musicians consider this not such an important moment, but in vain. Below is a screenshot of my drops, automation knobs and applying effects in the project.
Drops & FX:
Now I want to tell you how I processed the instruments, what sound processing I did on the mixer channels and the master channel. Each instrument has been EQed, which I always do, which gives me half the work to do during the mastering stage. So that the frequencies do not conflict with each other and the structure of the track is clean, I use a standard equalizer, although I have better equalizers in my clip, such as a fab filter, for example, I already use it at the finish processing if it is required, but as a rule, pre-processing often gives good results and the track does not need additional processing, but not always. On the master channel, I have an analyzer that shows me which frequencies I need to pull up or, on the contrary, make them smaller. I use such analyzers as Total Balance Control and Smooth, they are almost always on my master channel as well as the limiter, respectively. Below I will show you how I processed some of the instruments in the project, sometimes I use frequency cheat sheets, although I study theory regularly, whatever it is in my head and I always knew where I need to cut low frequencies and where to add highs or mids, etc.
EQ:
In conclusion, I want to show what virtual synth settings I used to create bass, because I know from my own experience that it is not so easy to find a good bass for creating music, especially in the style of liquid funk, drum and bass, and so on. I used Serum and Repro 5 synthesizers, in the screenshots you can see what settings I used and repeat them to get a good bass for your compositions, but I still recommend that you turn the knobs yourself in search of a unique sound, it is very interesting and informative.

Hugs! 🙃
This is how the post turned out, I rarely make such informative posts, but today I wanted to show in more detail my process of creating music, how everything works and how it looks. I hope that this material will be useful to you, now you are more familiar with how I create music, how I process instruments and synthesizers, how I work with equalization. In advance, I want to say thank you to everyone who listens to my music, special thanks to the Alien Art Hive team, I'm glad to be part of the team and develop the community. I hug you all and wish you a productive, good week. See you again soon!
Sincerely. Paul.
