Nightcafe keeps adding new models to their line-up. Recently, my pesonal friend Paulo Cunha had alerted me that the Seedream 4.0 model accepts more than one seed image. Once I tried it, I got hooked on it. The newest wrinkle was just introduced the other day, a updated Seedream 4.5, where you could load up more than just two seed images to figure in your results.
Add to that Seedream 3.0 for prompt text only, and the more economical Flux 2 Dev model to round out the ones that consistently gave me the best results for my (often very crazy) prompts. Another recently introduced model is good for trying out ideas: Z-Image Turbo - it is very economical, only costs 0.5 points.
Seedream 3.0 uses no seed images, prompt only. The prompt for the above was:
Fear and euphoria on Mediterranean isle.
Unicorn caged in teapot made of iron bars held in the arms of Aphrodite - Surreal Fantasy Digital painting by surrealist Otto Rapp with Paulo F Cunha, Ernst Fuchs, H.R. Giger, Hieronymus Bosch and Beksinski, colourful digital oil painting , detailed work, cooperative work, cryptid taxidermy in Bogomils Universe TORSO - Surreal Fantasy Drawing by the Mystic Otto Rapp under the Influence ...
This was just one example of the type of prompts I used.
I had also just recently found an article on the Conversation website that explains How the ‘hypnagogic state’ of drowsiness could enhance your creativity
As Frederic Myers saw it, our conscious mind is just a small segment of our overall mind, including not only what Sigmund Freud called the unconscious, but also wider and higher levels of consciousness. Ideas may gestate unconsciously for a long time before they emerge into conscious awareness. This is why it often feels as if ideas come from beyond the mind, as if they are gifted to us. They can come from beyond our conscious mind. Source
This is one explanation of how I write prompts, but I am also writing prompts to cause AI to halucinate (a detailed explanation further down). Here is one recent image created:The 'halucinating' prompt for this:
Detailed (paintig by artist Otto Rapp 1.5) at the woods where trees have eyes in post apocalyptic Wonderland. Lady in the Radiator and pale tatooed albino freak wrapped in a sheet floating through the woods gnawing on a large ham bone . By brothers quay, drawing by H.R. Giger, by Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Hieronymus Bosch, Alphonse Mucha, intricately detailed, hyperrealism, fantasy, Bogomils Universe. Witches and hobgoblins hobnobbing with aliens and chitchatting about UFOs in Bogomils Universe on Dr. Moreau's Island, fantasy painting by Otto Rapp under the influence of ayahuasca and funny bone extract, H.R.Giger, Hieronymus Bosch, Alphonse Mucha, inticately detailed, imperial colors.
This was done with Seedream 4.0, and it was a 'evolve' from a SD 1.4 image. I sometimes do these evolves from older models to get a different look, and in this case, it succeeded (adding to the halucination). The image it evolved from:
AI HALUCINATIONS
My AI creation posts. Here is my explanation of why and how:Sometimes I write prompts deliberately in such a way to 'confuse' AI and make it halucinate. That apparently was much easier with the old SD models. So I would even these days first run such a prompt with SD and only after evolve the result with a newer model, using lower noise settings on the image. This works pretty good with Flux or some of the Lightning models. But what I like to use lately is Seedream 4.0, combining two seed images. Then Seedream reads both images as well as the original prompt. The results are often very surprising and completely different from the input.
Particularly with Seedream, I often use (and combine) images from my own analog work as seed images, be that my paintings or drawings. My prompts that go with it contain references to my influences, but also, as stated above, sentences to 'confuse' AI and make it 'halucinate'.
If you google the subject of AI Halucinations, you will find some very interesting articles about this on line.
One article I found particularly interesting: What are AI hallucinations? because of a section that speaks of artistic use, here I quote from the article:
AI hallucination applications - Art and design
AI hallucination offers a novel approach to artistic creation, providing artists, designers and other creatives a tool for generating visually stunning and imaginative imagery. With the hallucinatory capabilities of artificial intelligence, artists can produce surreal and dream-like images that can generate new art forms and styles. SourceMy intention is not, and had never been, to use AI to produce a pre-conceived image. Just as with my analog work, I like the surprise, the trip into unknown territory.
The best of such images obtained are saved, the rest archived. The saved images in turn are at times starting points for my analog work, sort of like what once was a laborious way of going through wads of paper sketches and notes about ideas. As examples of early works show also that I had at times used complicated computations to derive some of my images, something that later on was made much easier with the use of photoshop distortions, for example. So now, AI (which by now is also a component of photoshop) makes things even easier und faster, without wasting paper (and thereby, trees).
A good and inexpensive way of testing my prompts is the newest addition to the model line-up on Nightcafe, since it 'eats up' only 0.5 points, but renders images very nicely:
In one of my earlier posts on Facebook (overlooked because it is just a one-liner with no image) I shared an article from Conversations that deals with some of these issues.
