It's interesting, I've been playing around with image synthesis since DALL-E 2 was in the invite only testing phase but only now has it not felt like a novelty. Since I'm a photographer my instinct was to make things that were like photographs, but that never really "did it" for me - those results didn't make me feel anything. I thought it was due to using AI, but then I started playing around with the renaissance painting style stuff and it was so fun that it was almost addicting!
