The Zhan Zhuang paintings

have been finished and I took photos of the process.

Thin strips of tape were applied in a zig-zag pattern on the surface of the Zhan Zhuang paintings.

Thick oil paint was then smeared across the surface of the both paintings with the thin, zig zagged, tape treatment.

The tape was then carefully removed, piece by piece, revealing lines of the original painting.

the Astral Surf paintings

are near the final stage of production.

here, the shapes are finished which took about a month of time to complete.

The white background is now going to be filled with a black and white gradient.
Before I do this, i am going to sketch out which direction the gradient is going to go. To do this, i imported the photos above to photoshop and meticulously cut out each white shape into it's own layer, and applied a gradient overlay which I was able to resize, and change direction of.

I dont have photos but the next step was, i taped over all of the color and today, i am going to paint the black and white gradient with oil paint, then remove the tape. i will have an update next time.
