paintings are in production at the studio and i am compiling a new body of work.

these small works on wood involve the use of human figures.
the figures look like they are dancing, but they are actually zhan zhuang poses, which is the art of internal kung fu.

i have been including these exercises in my daily routine as the first thing i do when i get up in the morning. they have been increasing my quality of life.

i have never really been able to get into meditation before but i like this method because it combines physical workout with meditation.

a layer of thin oil paint stripes will go over these that you will see an example of below.

the entire surface of this piece was covered with masking tape.
a straight-edge and exacto knife was then used to slice thin stripes of tape off.

the tape that was removed, was transferred to another piece for the same preparation.

oil paint was then smeared across the surface and the tape was removed.

simultaneously, another series of paintings are being produced on the main wall.

the tape is almost ready to come off these.
where the background will then be filled with black and white gradients which i will produce digital mock ups of, in photoshop.

this is the prototype that will be worked first.

pictured below is a diptych that i am experimenting with. i do not know yet what it is going to look like, but i know what i am going to do to it.

I am really stoked on this and am motivated to produce more of these animated NFT's which are based off photographs of sections of my physical paintings, animated in after effects.
