HI GUYS
This piece stemmed from one of the sketches of the MANGBETU tribe I did sometime ago. I always knew I was going to paint over it, so when the opportunity came, I didn't hesitate.
The inspiration for this piece came from watching "THE LION KING". Though the center stage was focused on MUFASA and "SIMBA". I couldn't ignore the role "SARABI" played in making sure the throne was return to the rightful owner. Her perseverance, motherly love, and most especially her sweet voice and being understanding helped SIMBA to become a better man and a KING.
The idea was to create an art depicting her, but in my own kinda way. That's why I went for an African mask. This explains the fight most African mothers go through in their homes, wars they fight to make sure their homes is secure, without anyone seeing the effort they put. They're being MASKED
