I've always been a fan of Klonoa, aesthetically speaking. At first glance, anyone would say it's a game for kids: that adorable bunny-eared character, a colorful world, and a stor that seems simple. But anyone who has actually played it knows the truth... Klonoa is hard. It has a learning curve that demand precision, and a narrative that, without being explicitly sad, leaves you with an incredible existential void

Here's a look at how the idea took shape:
The Initial Sketch
I always start with loose lines, searching for the right pose. Klonoa has a very distinctive silhouette, with his hat and bandana. The important thing here was to capture that playful essence but with a determined look, like when you're about to face a final boss.
Defining the Expression
This is where the fun begins. Moving from sketch to cleaner lines. I focused on the big eyes and the smile, but also on the details of his outfit. I wanted him to look dynamic, as if he were jumping between platforms (and we all know how frustrating some of those jumps can be in the game!).
Color is fundamental in Klonoa. The scenarios are vibrant, almost dreamlike. For the drawing, I used a warm palette and soft shadows to give it volume without losing that "storybook" aesthetic. I love how the light starts to bring the character to life.
I feel satisfied because I think I managed to convey why I like this character so much. It's a balance between the adorable and the epic. A warrior with a good-natured face who will make you repeat a level over and over again.

Siempre he sido fan de Klonoa, estéticamente hablando. A simple vista, cualquiera diría que es un juego para niños: ese adorable personaje de orejas de conejo, un mundo colorido y una historia que parece sencilla. Pero cualquiera que lo haya jugado de verdad conoce la realidad... Klonoa es difícil. El Boceto Inicial
Siempre empiezo con líneas sueltas, buscando la pose correcta. Klonoa tiene una silueta muy distintiva, con su sombrero y pañuelo. Lo importante aquí era capturar esa esencia juguetona pero con una mirada decidida, como cuando estás a punto de enfrentarte a un jefe final.
Definiendo la Expresión
Aquí es donde empieza la diversión. Pasar del boceto a líneas más limpias. Me centré en los ojos grandes y la sonrisa, pero también en los detalles de su atuendo. Quería que se viera dinámico, como si estuviera saltando entre plataformas (¡y todos sabemos lo frustrantes que pueden ser algunos de esos saltos en el juego!).
El Color
El color es fundamental en Klonoa. Los escenarios son vibrantes, casi oníricos. Para el dibujo, utilicé una paleta cálida y sombras suaves para darle volumen sin perder esa estética de "cuento ilustrado". Me encanta cómo la luz empieza a darle vida al personaje.

Me siento satisfecho porque creo que logré transmitir por qué me gusta tanto este personaje. Es un equilibrio entre lo adorable y lo épico. Un guerrero con cara de bonachón que te hará repetir un nivel una y otra vez.
