"... y'know what? There's only four things we do better than anyone else: music, movies, microcode (software), and high-speed pizza delivery” ― Neal Stephenson, Snow Crash
So this weekend I decided to check out Neon District and start building up my team and item collection before the game fully launches. I've been following this game for years now and have always been ready to wait as long as is needed for the experience they promise. Currently the game has a very impressive but not all that fun practice mode for a great and surprisingly complex combat system.
After signing up you'll be left without much guidance: Let me be your guide! This adventure, like the cyberpunk classic Snow Crash starts with you delivering pizza. Use your starting NEON to buy any 4 characters, don't overthink it. Once you have 4 characters you want to join them together as a team. Apparently in the future delivering pizza is a team sport!
To get to work, press NEON PIZZA in the top bar and then DELIVERY AGENTS. Select your single team and then Tier 1. In Tier 1 your crew will deliver only in safe neighborhood and you'll never be jumped! Score! Now is the really amazing part, simply click START DELIVERY and walk away for 8 hours while your crew works on your behalf! At the end of the shift bank their pay and send their lazy asses back to work!
I spent the week sending my crew out whenever I was around my computer to collect tokens, NFT's and "juice" to level them up. Due to the huge shift lengths this pretty much just meant clicking a single button before and after my work day. At the end of the week I had not found a single item and was feeling a bit let down until I bought a single pack of cards, looked up the item, on the market, and found that the cheapest one of the four sold for $70+.
As someone who distrusts anything this easy I assumed this must mean that the market was not working right but within one friendly request email and 2 hours I had an account and my items listed. I went to go meet up with a friend and by the time I got to his house a pair of virtual pants had sold for $120 in ETH. Woah.
This all feels too good to be true. It's everything I ever wanted having grown up on cyberpunk novels and yall ... the future is here.
The clever shall inherent the future. I really cant wait to see where this adventure leads.
