I think I encountered his art when I was seeking out ways to improve my line arts and tried to explore what else I could do with just black and white given how much I was averse with using other colors back then. Kim Jung Gi's interviews from this video:

You can check out his portfolio here and see why he holds the Guinness World Record of "longest drawing by an a individual". Across my art journey in studying the popular artists of today, his name and works occasionally popped up as consistently.
He made me appreciate how small my current skill set was in relation to someone that has been doing this for years from hobby to profession. That video is just one of the many videos that made a good imprint on what I was missing. Kim Jung Gi's way of explaining how his thought process works on his art was surprisingly ordinary and practical. Years of being self taught and finding the initiative to study when there were no or limited art schools to teach him paved way to a strong foundation.
He created art countless times that the muscle and visual memory of rendering objects from imagination to shaping it into reality came so natural.
Kim Jung Gi was no doubt one of the most influential figures of today's time when it comes to art. It made me browse my visual library and his art books again. May he rest in peace.
If you made it this far reading, thank you for your time.
